Since the beginning of his existence, Taeyong had been recognized to be a promising, hardworking pupil. The young male was constantly paying attention to the scholar's lectures and meaningful statements, even though there was truly no point in him paying attention to them in the first place.
He possessed no power as the other individuals held and he never would.
The young boy was one of the unfortunate few who had their abilities manifest when he was inside of his birth mother's womb.
He was additionally considered one of the worst classifications of hybrid humans in the economy, he was an animal, a cat to be precise. Hybrid animals were not deemed proper to nourish their brains with knowledge, except, they would perhaps learn to hunt or hide from nearby prey.
They were meant to get their hands — or paws — dirty and be running off of pure adrenaline and instinct.
Taeyong was not born into a poor and weak family like other people of his kind were commonly known to be born into, which is where the problem begins. He was part of the royal family tree — a confidential matter. If people became aware of that fact, they would lose their trust and loyalty for the Emporer.
The Emporer was known to discriminate against these kind's of humans regularly, continually forcing these breeds to be housekeepers, prostitutes, and in the worst-case scenario: made to be slaves.
This resulted in Taeyong being deposited in a half-breed household merely hours after he had been born.
They told the public that it was a miscarriage, saying the baby was too weak to stay alive, lies to keep the family image pristine. They had sympathy thrown at them at all angles.
He has torn away from his biological mother's arms, for the good of the kingdom, in his father's direct words. If there was a mere hybrid human like himself running around inside of the palace walls, it would only cause chaos and destruction. It would be seen as dirty.
Although it may seem miserable to most people who know the truth, it never once bothered Taeyong. Maybe his very lenient cat-like nature caused him to be this way; because he never cared about his royal heritage, not even once. In his mind, he belonged in the Lee Family, with his little brother and two mother's who brought him joy and assurance.
There was another person...
"Taeyong-ah~" The calming voice belonged to a slightly older student named Byun Baekhyun. This friend of Taeyong's had never succeeded in his classwork for years since he was so busy with being the well-known trouble maker in the entire village, he failed to succeed even when he was the most intelligent...
Regardless of the awful attitude that he had, one should not doubt the older male's excellent abilities. He just struggled to write it all down, simply too passionate of a kinetic learner.
Baekhyun was stuck in the classroom for a longer amount of time, as punishment, it caused his actual abilities to be much stronger than the other students.
Similar to how a bottle of wine tastes better the longer you leave it to age.
Baekhyun and the cat-male were considered to be at opposite ends of the spectrum to learning, but they somehow became good friends.
Taeyong thought it was more than that at a particular point. He had undeniable feelings for the male who threw paper all around the room, debated constantly and slept while lectures were being spoken. He wondered if they felt the same way: if Baekhyun felt the same electricity he felt when their skin touched, the same tingly feeling in his abdomen when the other male smiled and laughed, the same growing need to be near the other person because his heart could almost explode!
He wondered...
Baekhyun could control water, he was excellent at it. Taeyong constantly followed the male to the river to watch him dive in and stay under there for several minutes doing something that nobody has any clue about, it happens every single day after the scholar ends the lesson.
Today, Baekhyun had noticed Taeyong hiding behind a tree, so he decided to approach him. "What are you doing here?" The older male giggled, splashing water into Taeyong's face; causing the cat to squeal and back away.
Taeyong hated water! It always left an itchy, burning feeling on his skin.
Though, years after, he wanted the water to succumb him.
Taeyong could effortlessly reminisce the recollections of him when he was just around five years old, he made such a fuss about not wanting to have a bath that he 'ran away from home' — most children have these moments, of course.
He came back two hours later screaming that a frog touched his foot and was going to eat him alive!
Frogs seem to be the only prey that he can't manage to kill.
After a few seconds of letting the shyness wear off, the younger male finally responded. "I just wanted to see you." his tail swished in the air behind him.
"Hmm..." Baekhyun smiled. "Want to see something special?"
