[Erin]
Day One
Well now, This was not what I was expecting when I agreed to go help my aunt. I always knew that woman causes bad luck and here I was, currently being surrounded by a pack of monkeys AND a human monkey.
Let me rewind a tiny bit.
" I love you too, I'll call you once I land ok?" I bid my parent's goodbye while I entered my aunt's private jet. I sat myself down on the comfortable leather seats and buckled up. For a couple of weeks, I'd be in Russia helping my aunt with her brand new shop.
I would be getting good pay, I was not going to miss the chance to help my family out. My mom was against it, not wanting her only child to leave home, even though I was a 20-year-old and should have probably already moved out.
My aunt - My father's sister - was an extremely wealthy person, she was quite a selfish person though, and would never spare some of her money to help us. We were practically foodless for a while.
She only offered me a job knowing I wouldn't refuse. Plus her good-for-nothing son - my cousin - left on a vacation with no warning or else she would have never even bothered to contact us. She said so herself.
The flight was peaceful with no disturbance from the staff, if I called for water or food, they'd appear, and only then would they show their faces.
In the middle of the long flight, a storm seemingly came out of nowhere and as if it was my fate I ended up here.
-
I coughed out water. Eyes slowly fluttering open in confusion. The sand from the beach was all over my clothing and it was irritating my skin, I wondered how long I was out.
I sat up, not noticing the troop of monkeys around me. My eyes couldn't focus at first, the sun too bright for me to handle at that moment.
Back to the present.
Where I currently sat, looking at the rugged male in front of me. I was hoping he'd speak sooner than later, seeing as I asked him a question around 5 minutes ago.
The monkeys were more vocal than him.
The man was covered in dirt, his hair long yet it seemed to be cut off - Awfully might I add - maybe with sharpened rocks like the scenes they show in the movies. His eyes a honey-like color staring into my own dark eyes.
I wasn't sure if he's in some kind of tribe or if he was the only person here and I really wasn't willing to find out, worried over the fact I might become their next meal.
"My name is Erin. I come from America, I am stranded here." I repeated slowly while lifting a hand out slowly to not get it bitten off. The monkey started a ruckus of squeaks which caused me to quickly put my hand down.
"Me, monkeys" I was surprised to hear the man talk, his voice coming off much deeper than I would have guessed it to be. I smiled, holding off a laugh as he pointed at the monkeys as well. I wasn't going to be rude and risk getting attacked by the hairy beasts.
"Are you alone here?" I tried asking, talking slowly to make sure he understands me.
"No, Monkey here" He furrowed his bushy brows, I really need to find a way to leave this island.
"More people?"
"Dead" I was sure my eyebrows went all the way to the back of my head. "Friend die, long ago" I nodded with a frown, I wonder how long this man has been stranded here. He doesn't seem to be much older than me.
I thought about my family back in California and wondered how long I'd be here. I was not excited to die in the middle of nowhere with my parents thinking I was with my aunt the whole time.
My phone and luggage were nowhere to be found, most likely sunk in the water, The people in the Jet either died or drifted to another Island but just the thought of people I was with hours ago dead brought chills down my spine.
No one would have guessed it would happen and now I'm stuck here.
"You come, me cave" It was hard trying to understand what he was saying but I followed him once he started to move, the monkeys abandoning us as he led me through multiple bushes and branches.
My stomach screamed in hunger. The man stopped and put a finger to his lips. Is this monkey serious? It's not my fault I was hungry. I want my mom.
I rolled my eyes, sulking.
Then I noticed why he was telling me to be quiet. In front of us was a huge tiger. It wasn't aware we were there. Or maybe it was but wasn't interested and I wasn't willing to stay till it was interested though but before I could bolt back to the beach, The man flung me onto his shoulder and started climbing the trees as a fucking maniac would.
I held myself back from screaming, seeing the tiger start to circle the tree.
-
The man dropped me on the cave floor.
I had leaves sticking out of my hair and I know for a fact my face has been bruised by the many branches that ambushed my face. He sat down in front of me, extremely close, sniffing at me. I frowned at him, moving backward.
He only moved closer.
"Uh... What are you doing"
"Me here, long time. No like you here" I nodded slowly, I wasn't even sure how to reply to him.
"How long have you been stuck here?" I found myself asking.
"Long time. Me here come with friend. Friend dead, tiger" I hugged my legs, head on my knees. I want to cry. I don't want to die here.
"I'm sorry" I whispered into my kneecaps.
My stomach grumbling caught the attention of the man. It also broke the silence that fell upon us.
"Me get banana for you!" He smiled excitedly and left with a run before jumping on a nearby tree.
I was left alone in the dark, wet cave.
