Burst of Light
The day was snowy, a fresh blanket down, just from last night. I had on a very Aèropostale outfit, including their striped boxy sweater, Invite Only jewel print leggings, tan crochet Sherpa boots, white earmuff earbuds, and their maroon solid hooded pea coat. I had the song 'Left Hand Free' by alt-j playing in my earmuff earbuds, and was so distracted by my favorite song, I almost walked into a blue box. It was very strange to see one, since it is the two thousands. Very abruptly, a man popped his head out.
"Um, hello, love. What is the day, time, and year?" The strange man asked.
"December 3rd, 2014, and," Checking my iPhone really fast, "Around 3:07."
"That means it isn't 3:07. Why didn't you use a time like 5 or 10?" The bowtied man asks.
"Because that's what my mom uses, and she is dead." I said it like it was nothing. Probably because it was nothing to me. He nodded solemnly, trying to be sympathetic.
"You said Mom. American, I presume?" I nod.
Curiosity was always a problem of mine, and now it got the best of me. Shoving past the man, I walked in, simultaneously awestruck by its alien nature. Then, I heard that voice calling. Whispering a name to me. Dock to? Lock her? D. Do. Dock- no, Doctor.
"So, this place is really big, Doctor! Like, you put a little box around a big space! Cool." I try to act like I see this everyday, when I obviously don't. The man gives me a strange look.
"How exactly do you know me?" He pulls out a strange device, scanning me over with it. I back away, and treat him like an old friend.
"Hey, so I was heading over to get some coffee, ya wanna come?" I ask, leaning on the console. He shakes his head.
"I must leave...?"
"Elizabeth. Elizabeth Greer." The Doctor nods a little, as if saying goodbye. I walk out of the box, only turning back to see it not there. But that was three months ago. Time for the present...
