"I never asked for friendship, yet you gave it to me."
An introvert who likes to go outdoors. An extrovert who's friends with one person at a time.
Summer's daytime lasts longer than the night, inviting everyone out to play. Sabito, a child who's l...
We exited the gazebo, and Valerie burst into conversation.
"That was amazing!" she squealed with enthusiasm. I couldn't blame her, though, it was the most magical moment of my life. And probably the most bizarre as well.
"That butterfly was very enchanting..." I said, my mind still on my peculiar dream.
"Yeah! It landed on my hand and stayed there!" said Valerie, "Did your wish come true?"
"I think it will."
We walked out to the field and met up with her mother, who was stroking petals in the hedges.
"Mummy! Mummy! Valerie cried, running up to her, "Guess what just happened!"
"Hello, my dear," Mrs Willows replied, "What happened?"
"A butterfly landed on my hand, and Sabito made a wish, and he says it'll come true!"
"That's lovely, Valerie," she commented, patting her daughter on the head. "Sabito, what did you wish for?"
I opened my mouth to answer, but my voice had a mind of its own.
"It won't come true if I say it out loud, Mrs Willows," I answered.
"Ah, yes, you're quite right about that," she sighed, "We should go home now, it's starting to get a bit chilly."
Just as we walked out of the archway, Valerie looked back into the open garden and said: "Bye-bye butterfly. I hope you make Sabito's wish come true."
I smiled, faith restoring my heart as I watched Valerie say her farewells to the magical creature we had encountered.
Pressing the button at the crossing again, I waited for all the cars to stop. Mrs Willows was right, the breeze began to become more violent, and an icy chill was swept along with it.
"Hold my hand-" Valerie stated before the light turned green.
As soon as she spoke, her sun hat blew off from the top of her head. She gasped and reached out in an attempt to retrieve it, but I stuck my arm out to stop her.
"Don't worry, I'll get it back for you," I reassured.
The lights flickered from red to green, and I dashed across the road and recovered her hat.
But little did I know that Valerie was right behind me.
Red means stop.
Green means go.
But I don't think the driver in that car knew that.
I reached for the hat, but I couldn't reach her.
