Drip.
Drip.
Crimson dripped from every crevice, down every stone. The castle seemed to be oozing with it, the metallic smell of it tainting the air.
The source of it sat in a place of honour, atop intricate runes that were now pooled with viscera, running down the pale arm and dripping off the glinting dagger blade that was held in its hand.
Will stood at the edge of it all, not a complaint falling from his lips as scarlet lapped at his shoes like the ocean against the shore, as it dripped down and splattered his waistcoat. There was a lump in his throat, his eyes glowing a dull, dead green, rather than their usual bright acid.
"... Parvis?"
The name left his lips a hoarse croak, as he finally gathered his courage, wading through the pools of blood to tentatively reach out to the body stretched over the altar. He had feared this would happen.
He had /known/ this was going to happen.
But the man hadn't listened.
"P-Parvis, c'mon, this isn't funny."
The body named Parvis didn't respond, lay still, stretched over the altar. "Parvis, I'm serious, knock it off."
Will gripped the body by the shoulders, turning it over. Parv's eyes were wide, bloodshot, his cracked lips quivering.Quivering... that meant he was alive, right?
And then there was the shaky draw for breath, the rattling wheeze of a half-dead being straining for air. Will gathered the limp mage into his arms, not caring about the blood staining his expensive clothing, and Parv finally acknowledged him.
"Sorry,... Will... you were right. I should've... listened to you." The lips quirked into a weak half-smile, a hoarse chuckle slipping out of him. "Heh, you're all bloody, Strifeykins-" he broke off with a rattling cough, and Will let out a choked sound.
"Parvis-" The blond bent down, pressing his lips to Parv's. The mages were rough, torn and bloodied, but he didn't even care, gave them the tenderest kiss he could before pulling away- and Parv's eyes had gone dull.
Will hadn't realized he was crying until the drops splashed down against the mages cheeks, cutting clean patches through the caked grime and blood.
"Parvis... Parv-, no no no, please-!"He cupped Parv's cheeks, pressing his forehead to the other mans and holding him, body shaking with the sobs that were wracking through him.
"No, no, oh god, I'm so sorry. I should've stopped you, I shouldn't have- I'm so fucking sorry."
His lips trembled, breath escaping him in short bursts. "This is all my fault."
Cradling the body of the man that had once been so full of life to his chest, Will sat there and sobbed until he couldn't any longer."... I didn't even get to tell you I love you, Parvis... Please don't leave me, oh gods, please don't leave me."
