Yeah, so as Black Waters is drawing to an end soon, I'm thinking about future projects. I know I promised an Amari + Ian story and I'm going to have to take that back. I think one day, eventually, I'll probably write an Amari story but not right away. I just don't have a clear vision of what it will be about. I've decided to nix Ian's place as a major character in it. He'll probably be a minor character. He will not be the romantic lead in that story.

There will be someone else who will serve as a romantic lead. I have no idea who yet. It will probably be a completely new character who is unrelated to everyone else. The details are fuzzy and the story just isn't completely clear to me yet.

I think I will take a break from the series after Black Waters. But as of now, the one story that is constantly on my mind is Odelia's story. I think I just like the"flawed" characters more and there's no one in the Darkly Devoted series more interesting and flawed than Odelia Winther.

I guess it could be categorized as New Adult Fantasy? I'm trying to figure out exactly what genre that book would fall under. I guess the "hook" would be Odelia's arranged marriage to Sebastian and how unhappy she is about having a husband she's not crazy about.

I think it would be fun to write about her friendship with Maglania, her tense relationship with Lydia, and her flirtatious relationship with Gabriel. The best part about Odelia's character is that she's very strong, very secretive, and very, very proper. Blake gets all that from her. Even though Blake lionizes his father, he never knew his father long enough to really take after Sebastian. It's Odelia who molds Blake into her own image.

I think the best part of writing this book would be the ability to clarify why everyone in the Darkly Devoted series is so "nice" to Blake. Like Maglania who somehow doesn't kill Blake despite everything he does to her through the first three books. Also, Gabriel who tries his best to father Blake in "What Was Mine" despite Blake trying his hardest to rebel against all his plans. I think understanding Odelia's relationship with the rest of Manna City elite really lends more depth to their interaction with Blake in the Darkly Devoted series.

Anyway, I'll leave it here for now. I don't want to say too much before I give away the ending of Black Waters. Thanks for reading this extended Author's Note!
