I won't lie. I'd definitely given thought as to how I would die. Perhaps I would have been hit by a car, or burn alive in an accidental house fire. I may have fallen ill, or simply died due to old age. Whatever it would have been, I can surely say that I didn't imagine it would be anything like this.
My breath was caught in my throat as I stared across the long room, into the dark eyes of my new friend, who stared back at me in horror. My black eyed kidnapper looked at her pleasantly in a way that sent chills down my spine.
It, quite honestly, was a horrible way to die, being used as bait against your friend to lure her to her own inevitable end. I had hoped she wouldn't come, that she'd be smarter than that, but I knew her, and standing here now, I could see it in her eyes. She would die for me. She'd give herself over if it meant I was let free. It was the noble thing to do after all, even if we both knew neither one of us would be leaving this room alive, but I suppose that at least counted for something.
I knew that if I had stuck to myself like I had wanted to, I wouldn't be facing death now. But, terrified as I was, I couldn't bring myself to regret the decision. When life offers you a dream so far beyond your expectations, it's not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end. I, on that note, must be completely unreasonable. Didn't I deserve to live a good and happy life?
The killer behind me loosened his grip on me, which sent me flying towards the floor, and with offered a chilling smile as he sauntered forward to kill Bella.
