Chapter Two: Mates

He pushes me against a tree. I look up at him and stop breathing. He is breath-takingly handsome. He is tall, has short dark brown hair and tri-hazel eyes. I finally realize that I've been staring too long and look down embarrassed and take a deep breath through my nose. Oh. My. Gosh! He smells so freaking good. He smells like fresh cinnamon and the woods. I finally gather myself and say, "I'm your what?!"

He smiles a Hollywood smile and says, "My name is Zachary Cole, and you are?"

I don't feel safe telling him my real name, but his eyes seem to pull it right out of me. "My name, is Melinda Chaney," I say slowly and cautiously to see if he recognizes my name.

"We meet at last, my dear,"  he says.
