Chapter 1: Invitation Into Madness
Being Joker was the kind of job one had to live with all the occupational hazards and dangers that it could bring...
And one of them was being shot at by a rocket launcher in a crowded public square in broad daylight!
Himiko took the job right after the one in Russia, which Dealer agreed to but with one condition: At least one of the Aces should be with her at all times!
So much for independence...but orders were orders.
It was a simple enough job, getting leads as to where Black Pearl was sold. So far, she and Camus only found the victims and their final destination.
The victims, stuck in the hospital as either insane or vegetables, were kept there. To gather evidence was tedious, and hard to clarify.
The patients, stuck in dream states before lapsing into a permanent coma kept drawing distorted images of trees and strange castles.
Even Camus had finally given up, and told her they were leaving as soon as the dawn flight was available in Japan. They had plans to simply to join the other Aces in London before going back to headquarters.
However, the gangs selling Black Pearl found out they were sniffing out the whereabouts of the drug's origin...and decided to get rid of them.
Sadly, she was separated from Camus when they encountered hostiles in Germany.
"I'm now trying to give Joker cover fire!" He had said over the comlink. "Where is that blasted backup?! I requested it more than five minutes ago!" he snapped harshly on the communicator.
Ittoki was relaying everything to him."They've encountered a roadblock from the entry point to the city! Hold on! We'll get you and Joker extracted soon!"
"Better make it sooner!" Camus took down another target in less than a second. "Joker's getting killed down there!"
She was not afraid of gunfire, or of armed men, or the like. Moreover, unlike most agents, she was worried over civilians getting caught in the crossfire!
"Run! Get out of the way! Now!!!" She shouted to every passerby-
Then...a whistling sound made her realize that a rocket launcher had been fired behind her!
She instantly hurled herself into a shop, shooting the glass that way she could crash behind some counters-
The cafe was obliterated in seconds, with Camus as a witness on a solitary rooftop...
"Report, Spade!" Club was driving a van with all speed towards his location.
Camus, Majestic Spade, spoke detachedly. "The enemy...they fired a rocket into the shop where Joker crashed...everyone...everyone in that vicinity...is dead."
