The Walk

Remus Lupin continued his walk around the corridors of Hogwarts, a place where he and his friends had been at home-maybe even more at home than when they were when actually at home. Especially for Sirius.

Sirius. Remus had known-he had known Sirius was innocent, he had been certain he would never betray Lily and James, nor would he kill thirteen innocent muggles. He wouldn't even kill thirteen guilty muggles, not unless they had tried to hurt his friends. And yet...

He had let Dumbledore convince him otherwise. He had let Dumbledore convince him that Sirius had murdered all of those muggles with one curse, that Sirius had killed Peter, and that Sirius had betrayed his best friend to Voldemort. But no.

He had known. He should have trusted his insticts. Remus Lupin knew Sirius Black best-well, after James, but James couldn't very well do anything now, because Peter Pettigrew had betrayed him. Not Sirius Black.

As he walked, he remembered some of the best Moony and Padfoot stories.

That wall, that was where Remus had pushed Sirius against the wall to kiss him, that broom closet was where they had hid for an hour after a prank had gone bad and the Slytherins had retaliated, that bench was where Sirius had collected his winnings after Lily had agreed to go out with James. (He had been forced to bet on their relationship, because James was his absolute best friend, and he would have considered it one of the highest traitorous acts had Sirius not been as certain about their relationship as James was.)

Remus Lupin knew Sirius Black. And yet he had allowed Albus Percival Wolfrick Brian Dumbledore to change his mind, change everything he knew, just because of witnesses. No, Remus couldn't stand it any longer.

He began making his way toward Professer Dumbledore's office.
