Thistlefern misses WindClan. after dying brutally in a battle with RiverClan after they accused his Clan of stealing fish, he arrives at StarClan and is reunited with his mother and father. But he misses his mate, Splashdew, and his former apprentic...
The tortoiseshell-and-white she-cat ducked as the RiverClan warrior aimed a swipe at her ear. the other warrior hissed, but his deputy called him.
"Carpclaw! help!"
Carpclaw glanced around, spotting his deputy a few fox-lengths away, pinned down by a dark cream-and-white she-cat. but before Carpclaw could rush over, she yowled to the dark cream cat.
"Brightcloud, watch out!" Brightcloud suddenly saw the RiverClan cat. she yelped in surprise and nodded to the calico. "Thanks, Mosspounce!"
but the deputy used that moment of surprise. he heaved upwards, throwing Brightcloud off. "Foxclaw!" Brightcloud shouted to a red-brown tom. "Fox-" The deputy of RiverClan cut her off, pressing a paw to her throat.
but Foxclaw had already noticed his mate. with a furious leap, he slashed a deep wound into the deputy's flank. "No, Snowblaze!" he yowled, "You will not take Brightcloud!"
Mosspounce nodded approvingly, looking around for any WindClan cats that needed help. she spotted Thistlefern wrestling with an enemy she-cat. sandy-gray and white fur became a blur as they together rolled farther and farther towards the Gorge. Carpclaw had long since ran off, tail between his legs, back to RiverClan territory, chased by Maplerain, but this white she-cat- Mosspounce remembered her from a Gathering, her name was Asterpetal- she was stubborn.
"Retreat! Retreat!" Snowblaze yowled, running away pursued by Foxclaw and Brightcloud, but Asterpetal stubbornly clung onto Thistlefern.
Mosspounce froze with horror as Asterpetal jumped on top of Thistlefern right before the drop and gave him a strong slash down his flank. Thistlefern jumped to his paws, but the wounds were too deep and he stumbled. he fell, but thankfully only farther inland, not over the side of the Gorge.
Asterpetal then ran.
"Coward!" Mosspounce shouted after the white she-cat, but she didn't reply. Mosspounce rushed to Thistlefern and helped him up.

Mosspounce had helped Thistlefern into camp along with Maplerain, Foxclaw, and Featherfrost. now Snakefang rushed around Thistlefern. he ordered Thymeflight to get cobwebs and marigold-what are those even, Mosspounce thought-and notified Splashdew, who had recently moved into the nursery expecting Thistlefern's kits.
Snakefang glanced at Mosspounce, the deputy, and solemnly shook his head.
