Part 18

You walked out of Simon’s office and didn’t even look at Liam who was leaning against the wall. You just walked over to the elevator and pressed the button, Liam came up to you and took his arm around you, and you shrugged it off.

Liam: Did I do something?
Steph: No, I just don’t feel like being touched.
Liam: Okay…

You went into the elevator and got down to the car. Liam drove back to your place and the whole ride back was silent. When you got home, you went inside and got ready to start cleaning up but you saw that it was all clean already.

Steph: What the..
Liam: I told the lads to clean up, since we borrowed the house.
Steph: You shouldn’t have done that.
Liam: It's just some cleaning.
Steph: Yeah but I wanted to do it!

You went up to your room and slammed the door, you felt yourself being really close to start crying but before you started, Liam knocked on the door.

Steph: What?!
Liam: Can I come in?
Steph: It’s a free country.

He opened the door and went inside, just looking at you with his hands in his pockets. Suddenly a tear feel from your eye and you quickly wiped it away.

Liam: Are you angry at me for telling Simon about you and Niall?
Steph: No, why would I be angry over something that stupid?
Liam: So why are you angry?
Steph: I'm not angry, I'm just… a girl. I get like this sometimes.
Liam: So you are okay? We are okay?
Steph: Yes I'm fine.

You looked away and Liam walked over to you and took your hands.

Liam: And us? Are we okay?

You looked at him and took a deep breath then smiled.
Steph: Yes Liam, we are okay.

He smiled and leaned in and kissed you. You kissed him back but not with as much passion as he had hoped for, he pulled out and looked at you.

Liam: Seriously, what’s wrong?
Steph: Nothing!
Liam: I don’t believe you.
Steph: Well to fucking bad. I'm going to take a shower, when are you going home?

Liam looked at you really surprised. He practically been living in your house lately and that you asked him when he was leaving was a big surprise to him. He cleared his throat.

Liam: ehm… I can.. just let me pack up my stuff and I’ll be gone.
Steph: Great.
Liam: Great?

You nodded, smiled then went into the bathroom and closed the door. You sat down on the edge of the bathtub and took another deep breath. What you were about to do was going to break not only your heart, but Liam’s and the fans hearts. You opened the door into the bedroom again and saw Liam back his things in a backpack. You leaned against the wall and looked at him.

Steph: Li?
Liam: mhm?
Steph: What do you want the most in the whole world right now?

He stopped packing his stuff and looked up at you.

Liam: what?
Steph: If you could have anything. No limits.
Liam: Anything anything?
Steph: Yeah…
Liam: To be a singer. To take the world with storm and concur the world.
Steph: Great.

You smiled and then went back into the bathroom. You took up your phone and dialed a number. The person answered “Hello?”

Steph: Hi dani, it’s me.
Danielle: me who?
Steph: Stephanie…
Danielle: Oh, Hi! How are you darling?
Steph: I'm good, how’s your hangover?
Danielle: haha I almost never get hung over so I'm good.
Steph: That’s good, I need some advices. Can we meet?
Danielle: yeah sure, when and where?
Steph: Starbucks at 7?
Danielle: Agh.. that will be tight. I have a meeting at 7.30 , can I just come over to you after?
Steph: Sounds good, movie and Chinese?
Danielle: Oh yes!
Steph: Great, see you tonight.

Suddenly you saw Liam come down the stairs with his bags and you stood up and walked over to him.

Liam: So… I guess I'm leaving.
Steph: okay.
Liam: When will I see you again?
Steph: How about tomorrow after work?
Liam: Yeah?
Steph: yeah totally.

He smiled and you took one hand on his shoulder, leaned in and kissed him on the lips. When you pulled out, he was still smiling, which made you laugh.

Steph: get going, I have people coming over.
Liam: Boys?
Steph: No, your lovely ex girlfriend.
Liam: It’s a bit weird that you hang out with her.
Steph: Oh don’t worry, if there will be any lesbian sex making, I’ll be sure to record it and send it to you.

You both laughed then Liam opened the door and left. You closed it after him and went back to the couch. Your headache still wasn’t gone so you laid down and took a blanket over your head and slowly drifted to sleep.
Suddenly you woke by someone knocking really hard on the front door, you jumped out of the couch and almost feel over the table.

Steph: fuck!

You took up your phone, rubbed your eyes and looked at the time. It was 8.30 and you remembered that Danielle were coming over. You went over to the front door and opened.

Steph: I'm so sorry, how long have you waited?
Danielle: About 20 minutes. I’ve texted you and everything, thought you was dead!
Steph: haha well no, not yet.
Danielle: What do you mean? You sick?
Steph: No! haha no, I'm just having a dilemma and I need some advice.
Danielle: Well I'm here for you honey.

You went inside and sat down in the couch. You put on MTV and there was actually music on now…
Steph: So basically my management unsigned me. Then I got an offer from a different management and it was a great deal, except the fact that I have to hurt someone I love.
Danielle: So don’t sign it, what’s more important? The person you love or your work?
Steph: Thing is, I don’t know how to do anything else then what I do.
Danielle: Let me get this straight, we are talking about Liam?
Steph: Yeah…
Danielle: What do you have to do to him?
Steph: Well Liam will get signed by Simon Cowell…
Danielle: OH MY GOD THAT’S GREAT!
Steph: yeah it’s amazing, and I would get the same opportunity if I broke up with him and didn’t speak with him for atleast 1 year.
Danielle: Oh…
She took your hands and looked at you.

Danielle: I can see why it’s a dilemma.
Steph: Yeah and the thing is that if I don’t do it, Simon will drop Liam again and it would be my fault. So that would leave me without management and Liam with crossed dreams.
Danielle: And you want my advice?
Steph: Yeah… You know Liam in other ways than I do.
Danielle: All I know is when he’s with you; he is so happy that nothing could possibly bring him down. I honestly don’t know what you should do.

Suddenly someone knocked on the door again and both you and Danielle jumped then laughed.

Steph: I'm not expecting anyone…
Danielle: It’s probably for me.

She jumped over to the door and opened. It was the food and she paid the delivery guy then closed the door and came over with Chinese food to you.

Danielle: I don’t know what you should do but I do know that food helps!
Steph: True that.

You and Danielle spent the night eating Chinese food, watching movies and talking about everything. But still, around 3 in the morning, you didn’t have a clue what to do about Liam. Danielle went home and you decided to go to sleep.
Just as you put your head down on the pillow, your phone started vibrating and it was a text.
“How is everything going? S.C “

You figured it was from Simon Cowell so you answered.

“Everything is going alright. I'm going to sleep now.”
“ I'm glad that you are not backing out of our deal”
“ Yeah well I don’t really have a choice.”

Then it got quiet and you feel asleep, but you didn’t have a nice sleep that night. You couldn’t stop twisting and turning, thinking about the least painful way of breaking up with the guy you love.





It’s a couple of weeks later. Today is a big day, not only for you but for millions of other people. First of all, it’s Christmas. Second of all, your second CD is coming out and third, you are meeting Liam for the first time after you broke up.
he had actually taken it pretty good, which made you a bit upset but you knew it was for the best.

You and Danielle had hung out almost every day since she came over to give you advice, you had grown to be really good friends and you loved her. Tonight, there was a party at The Funky Buddha and it was only certain people who was invited, amongst them was you, Danielle, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Caroline Flack, some more dancers and of course, Liam and the boys. They were invited because Harry knew the owner.
You and Danielle was in your room, getting dressed and fixing your makeup.

Steph: So, red lipstick or pink lipgloss?
Danielle: Red, it goes with your dress!
Steph: Then red it is. So you going to your parents first?
Danielle: yeah im going in and leaving some gifts then I think I’ll be heading down to the club.
Steph: Cool.
Danielle: You going to see your mom?
Steph: I don’t know… I haven’t seen her for so long and it would just feel, weird.
Danielle: Yeah but I think you should see her. It’s Christmas!
Steph: True, it always was her favourite holiday.
Danielle: So go see her and then go down to the club, the lads can wait.
Steph: Liam is still coming?
Danielle: Yeah…
She looked away from you; like she was hiding something and you grabbed her arm and turned her back around.

Steph: What are you hiding?!
Danielle: nothing…
Steph: Danielle!
Danielle: it’s nothing big…
Steph: So tell me!
Danielle: ugh… fine! He is maybe possibly probably 100% surely brining a date.
Steph: Really?
Danielle: Yeah..
Steph: Who?
Danielle: I actually don’t know that, honestly.
Steph: Fine.

You took up your phone and texted Niall.

“Wanna be my date for tonight? Like a… a favour for a favour?”
“What will your favour me for me then baby?”
“I’ll have sex with you”
“Okay, Buddha at 8?”
“Great.”

You took your phone back down and Danielle looked at you like you had done something really stupid.


Steph: What?
Danielle: What did you do now?
Steph: nothing, just asked someone out.
Danielle: Who?
Steph: doesn’t matter…
Danielle: It so does!
Steph: You gonna have to wait and see!

She went over to you and stood next to you in the mirror.

Danielle: Im just bones. I would die for some flesh on me, I mean look at your breasts!

You winked at her and both of you started laughing.

Steph: No but honestly, I need to lose some weight.
Danielle: no you are perfect Stephanie.

You took your clutch and both you and Danielle went out of your room and downstairs. You had called a cab to take you to the club and Danielle had her car.

Danielle: So I’ll see you around 8?
Steph: Yeah.
Danielle: Good, and no more talking about losing weight, you look stunning!

You hugged each other then you jumped into the cab and she in her car.

Steph: can you take me to another address first?
Driver: Yeah where you wanna go?

You gave him the address to your mom’s and he drove there. It only took about 12 minutes and when you arrived, it didn’t look like you expected. You started walking back to the cab but the girl called on you.

Girl: That depends on who you are looking for.

Steph: My mom… Allie Carson, I doubt-
Girl: Oh you must be Stephanie! Your mom has talked so much about you!

She went out to you and took your arm and walked back inside.

Girl: Im Katherine but you can call me Kath.
Steph: Stephanie..
Kath: Wait here a second, I’ll get Allie.

She smiled and walked away. You looked around yourself and saw pictures of your mother and Katherine, together. Then you looked up and saw your mom coming out of a room, she looked at you and smiled then ran over to you and hugged you.

Allie: Oh gosh Steph, it was such a long time ago!
Steph: Yeah, to long I think!
Allie: Absolutely! I didn’t expect to see you.
Steph: im sorry to turn up like this, I just wanted to say Marry Christmas.
Allie: Well… I’ll ask Kath to put out another plate, you are staying for dinner!
Steph: oh… Okay.

She dragged you into the kitchen where Kath stood with 2 kids. One boy and one girl. They looked to be around 10 and 7.

Kath: And then you put the ham in the oven.
Allie: Melissa and Gabriel, this is my daughter Stephanie.

Melissa was the 7 year old and Gabriel was around 10, they both looked at you then Melissa went over to you and hugged your legs.

Melissa: You are beautiful!
Steph: So are you honey.

You sat down on your knees to face her and she smiled. She had blonde hair and blue eyes, pure beauty.

Steph: You will grow up to be a heartbreaker hu?
Kath: Let’s hope for the best.

You stood up again when Melissa walked back over to Kath, who was her mother. You walked over to your mom and looked as she was filling up some stuff and putting it in the oven.

Steph: So…?
Kath: You should probably tell her.
Steph: Tell me what?
Allie: Promise not to freak out.
Steph: Sure.
Allie: Me and Kath are kind of… engaged.

Your mouth dropped and you must have looked really fun but you couldn’t get the words out.

Allie: I know, it’s not what anyone expected but hey, I can’t decide who I love!
Kath: Stephanie, I love your mother so much. I hope we can get along.
Steph: eh.. that’s a … wow!
Allie: Im sorry baby.
Steph: no! Don’t be! Aslong as you are happy mom, it was just a big plot twist.
Allie: Yeah I thought so to when I started getting feelings for Kath.

Your mom leaned in and kissed Kath on the cheek, you looked away and suddenly Melissa took your hand and said that she could show you the Christmas tree.
You and Melissa was sitting on the floor infront of the tree when your mom called on you that it was time to eat.

Melissa: I race you to the table!

She started running and you stood up and ran after her, she won.. of course. And she laughed at you.

Melissa: Now you have to give me an extra Christmas gift!
Steph: Oh really? Well I think I can come up with something.
Melissa: Yeeey! Mommy im getting more presents!
Kath: That’s fantastic darling.

Kath sat down next to you and leaned in and whispered in your ear.

Kath: You don’t have to give her anything, she will forget it by tomorrow.
Steph: No don’t worry about it, I’d love to give them both gifts. I would have brought some if I knew…

You started eating and it was all very nice. You were laughing and having a great time with your mom and her new family.

Steph: So, how did you meet each other?

Kath looked at your mom and you could see the sparkles in her eyes. It was real, it was how Liam looked at you and how Kayla looked at Louis.

Kath: You tell her baby.
Allie: well, me and Kath have known each other since college.
Kath: When I saw that she had been in court about… your father. Is it okay with you?
Steph: I’ll live.
Kath: Okay good. When I saw that she had been in court about that, I saw her on the news and I thought “Wow I recognize that girl and she’s looking damn fine!” so I contacted her and we ended up getting engaged.
Steph: That’s adorable, who proposed?
Kath: I did, I took her out to the lake house and we had a great time then I popped the question.
Steph: And you said yes, of course. I love that, it’s adorable!
Allie: Yeah, I love her. She changed my life.
Steph: I can see that.

Your mom smiled and kissed you on the forehead.

Allie: So Steph, there’s anyone special in your life? I’ve read about some guy in the papers but you can never trust media.
Steph: Well.. actually we broke up a couple of weeks ago.
Kath: That’s sad..
Steph: Yes but he seems to have moved on so I guess I have to do the same.
Allie: Was it this Liam guy you talked to me about once?
Steph: I didn’t think you remembered…
Allie: I remember everything from that time, even stuff I shouldn’t.
Steph: im sorry mom.
Allie: Don’t be, look where it brought me!
Steph: I guess you are right.
Melissa: So why did you break up with Liam?
Steph: Well… business.
Melissa: What kind of business?
Steph: If I wanted his dreams to come true, I would have to give up on being with him.
Melissa: But if you loved him, he was your dream and you gave up on your dream to make his come true?

You looked at her and raised a eyebrow.

Kath: Yeah she’s… poetic.
Steph: She reminds me of a friend of mine, Zayn.
Allie: But she’s right though. Your father always did the “business before love” thing and look where it got him.
Steph: im not my father.
Allie: no, absolutely not. But sometimes it can be helpful to listen to a 7 year old.
Gabriel: Can’t we just come to the conclusion that she dumped him because she was waiting for someone better? Someone like… me!

You looked over at Gabriel who hadn’t said a word all night until now.

Steph: Well, that sounds true actually. I think I’ve been waiting for you Gabriel so, can I give you a kiss?

You stood up and started walking over to him, his eyes got really big and he went of his chair.

Gabriel: NO PLEASE I DON’T WANT GIRL GERMS!!!

He started to run and you ran after him, making kissing sounds and you were both laughing. So were Kath and your mom.
After a while, you looked at the time and remembered that you had to get to the club so you helped Kath and your mom with the plates and dishes.

Steph: im sorry I have to leave so early, maybe I can come back some day?
Melissa: YES!
Gabriel: If you keep your germs to yourself.
Steph: Hmm… I might.
Kath: I’d love to have you back Stephanie; it was a pleasure having you here.

She hugged you and so did Melissa and Gabriel. Your mom followed you out to the porch and closed the door. Then she took your hands and looked at you.

Allie: You sure you are okay with all this?
Steph: Mom, I haven’t seen you this happy ever and they are so amazing. Im really happy for you. You deserve this!
Allie: Thank you honey, im really glad I meet them.
Steph: Yeah I can see why.
Allie: So where you heading off to now?
Steph: There’s a party at the Buddha and im meeting some people.
Allie: okay, take it easy and don’t do anything stupid.
Steph: I promise. Thank you for dinner and everything.
Allie: My pleasure. Our pleasure.

She took you in for a hug and you hugged her back. She was warm, like something was warming her up from the inside. You didn’t want to let go of her but when you did, you noticed that a tear fell down your cheek, so did she. She took her finger up on your cheek and wiped it away.

Allie: So so, the cab is here. Have a good time honey.
Steph: I will, thank you again.

You went over to the cab and jumped in. Before you closed the door, Allie called on you.

Allie: Steph?
Steph: Yeah?
Allie: I love you honey.

You smiled and nodded.

Steph: I love you to, mom.

She smiled and you closed the door to the cab, she waved you off and you felt another tear come down your cheeks.

Driver: You okay back there?
Steph: Yeah, im absolutely fantastic.
Driver: So where am I taking you?
Steph: Buddha.
Driver: Buddha it is.
Steph: Why aren’t you at home celebrating Christmas?
Driver: Believe me, if I had the time and money to go home to my wife and 3 kids right now, I would. But I have to work to make some money.

You nodded and he smiled at you in the mirror.

Steph: How old are your kids?
Driver: The youngest was born yesterday, then we have a 4 year old and a 9 year old. 2 boys and one girl.
Steph: The youngest is the girl?
Driver: That’s right.
Steph: She’s a lucky girl with big brothers.
Driver: Yeah she is.

You arrived a while later at the club and you got out of the cab and went over to the driver’s side.

Steph: Can you wait here for just one second?
Driver: Sure thing.

You smiled then ran over to a ATM and took out some money, over and over and over again. You ran back to the cab and leaned in through the window. You reached your hand over to the driver and he looked at you with a weird look.

Steph: Go home, celebrate Christmas with your family.

The driver couldn’t get a word out of his mouth, you laughed and he just shook his head.

Driver: Here is atleast …
Steph: 50.000 , there is surely some shop still open. Get your kids some gifts and some good food. Go!
Driver: Thank you Miss, you are a Christmas miracle.

You smiled and he drove off. You looked over to the club and saw all the people standing outside, trying to get in. Then you saw Niall and he saw you because he smiled and waved. You walked over to him and he kissed you on the cheek.

Steph: Hi, merry Christmas.
Niall: Merry Christmas. You ready?
Steph: Yeah.

You walked over to the entrance and Andy, the security let you in. When you got inside, you saw Danielle stand with some of her friends and she saw you. She walked over and looked at you.

Danielle: I thought you were coming earlier?
Steph: I got caught up at my moms.
Danielle: Why?
Steph: long story. Who are you here with?
Danielle: Some guy from the dance, have to get back to him. Hi Niall.
Niall: hey Dani, you alright?
Danielle: yeah, don’t do anything stupid that both of you will regret.

You nodded and Danielle walked away. Niall took your hand and you walked over to one of the VIP tables and sat down. Some of Niall’s friends were there and you got served champagne. You took a glass and swallowed all of it at once.

Niall: Ey..
Steph: What? Let’s dance.

You took his hand and went out to the dancefloor. Soon, you and Niall were grinding at each other and he ground was spinning as the alcohol was spinning round your system. You kept getting drinks from everywhere and you didn’t pass on any.
Suddenly, you felt someone grab your arm and your turned around to see if it was Niall, but it wasn’t.

Steph: Well that’s not longer your issue!

You dragged your arm out of Liam’s grip and made your way to the bar.

Liam: Where you going?
Steph: need drink!
Liam: Stephanie, come on.
Steph: just because you are a pussy and don’t drink, don’t take it out on me!

You looked at him and he took a deep breath then looked at the bartender.

Liam: a shot of tequila please.
Steph: make that 3.

Seconds later, there stood 3 tequila shots infront of you on the bar and Liam looked at you then at them. You took one glass and swallowed the drink. Liam shrugged his shoulders, took the other glass and swallowed all of it.

You took the other glass and drank that to, then turned back to Liam.

You walked away from him, back out on the dancefloor. You started dancing with yourself. You felt a pair of strong arms around your waist and they spun you around. Niall stood there, grinning.

She hugged you then ran outside. You didn’t see who she left with but soon you felt Niall behind you again. He whispered in your ear.

You turned around and looked at him.

He took your hand and you walked outside together. You were about to close the door to Niall’s car when someone’s hand got in the way.

Niall took a deep breath, groaned and then went out of the car and slammed the door shut. Harry gestured to you to get in to his car and you did. Then you, Harry and Niall drove off. You left of Niall first and he was still pretty pissed that he didn’t get laid tonight so you texted Carrie and asked her if she wanted to meet him. She just sent a “ ;)” back and you knew it was taken care of. On the way back to your place, Harry didn’t say anything but his hands were white from how hard he was holding the wheel.

Steph: Whatever it is that you are holding in, trust me I can take it.

He bit his lips and took a deep breath.

Harry: Fine. I don’t understand why you broke up with Liam, neither does he! I mean, is it because you have feelings for someone else or are you just not inlove with Liam anymore? And they way you broke up with him, that was really low!
Steph: It’s not like he cared. The only thing he said was “Fine, see you.”
Harry: WHAT THE HELL DID YOU WANT HIM TO SAY?! You brought him to a café and told him you couldn’t take it anymore. The poor guy thought it was because he ordered the wrong fucking coffee at first!

You didn’t answer him and he shook his head.

Harry: Don’t you have any conscience, at all?!

You looked away from him and leaned on your arm. Harry didn’t say anything more the rest of the ride. When he stopped outside of your house, he looked at you and nodded.

Harry: Who’s in your house?
Steph: Danielle and her date..
Harry: Oh..

You opened the door and went out of the car then slammed it shut again. Harry looked over at you and tried to smile. You told him to open the window so he did and you leaned in.

Steph: To answer your question, I'm still hopelessly inlove with Liam. That’s the reason why I broke with him, for his own good.
Harry: I don’t think you should decide what his own good is.
Steph: He did that himself. Thanks for the ride.

He nodded and took the window up again. You walked inside and heard moans and screams from your bedroom. You sighed, took off your jacket and shoes then jumped down in the couch and took a blanket over yourself.
You laid in the couch and couldn’t help to hear them going on it hard upstairs. You couldn’t fall asleep even after they have gotten quiet and sneaked downstairs. So you heard them talk.

Danielle: And not a word to anyone!

You turned around and saw Danielle lean in and kiss the guy on the lips. He took his hands through his hair then left. She closed the door and you sat up.

Steph: ZAYN FUCKING MALIK ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!

You scared her and she must have jumped all the way up in the roof.

Danielle: SHUT UP! YOU GOT FINGER FUCKED BY NIALL ON THE FUCKING DANCEFLOOR!
Steph: True…

She laughed and sat down next to you. You leaned on her shoulder.

Steph: I’ve really messed up.
Danielle: Me to.
Steph: We should build a club, “the messed up’s.”
Danielle: Yeah I agree. I thought you were going back with Niall?
Steph: So did I but apparently, Harry didn’t think so.
Danielle: Harry?
Steph: Yeah he dropped me off.
Danielle: Oh. Did you meet Liam tonight?
Steph: I did…
Danielle: So?
Steph: I actually managed to get him to drink.
Danielle: What? He doesn’t drink..
Steph: I know, but he took a shot of tequila tonight.
Danielle: That’s weird.
Steph: Yeah, well I'm going to sleep.
Danielle: Can I crash here?
Steph: Clean up my bedroom first.
Danielle: Oh we used the guestroom.
Steph: Then you can sleep in there.
She laughed and both of you went upstairs. You got undressed and laid down in your bed, turned the lights off and were on your way of falling asleep when your phone started buzzing. You picked it up and saw “Liam” on the called. You answered.

Steph: Liam, it’s late.
Liam: Somewhere its early baby!

You heard voices in the background and figured he wasn’t alone.

Steph: What do you want?
Liam: Ugh.. I, you know its like me don’t actually-
Someone spoke in the background. “Liam give me the phone” and then you heard a different voice in the phone.

Voice: Hi, my name’s Samuel. Liam is pretty drunk..
Steph: You are kidding, drunk?!
Samuel: Yeah, we found him in a dumpster.

You slammed your hand in your face and then rubbed your eyes.

Steph: I'm on my way..

You hung up, called a cab, got dressed and then left.
