Chapter 5.5

The next morning I woke up kind of early for a Saturday and left my dad's place by 8am, I drove back into Rosewood and stopped at the grill and ordered a coffee.

I decided to sit on one of the couches while I was waiting and read a book, Jane Eyre. I loved the book because even though it was slightly sexist, Jane had true girl power and true love, two things I only dreamed of.

While I was waiting, Spencer and Hannah walked through the door. When they saw me, they immediately came my way.

" Hey guys, " I greeted them. I set the book down on the coffee table and they sat down on the couch across from me.
" Hey, " they looked at me with unreadable eyes. I wasn't sure if they were angry with me, worried about me, or just, neutral?
" So, no blowing of Emily's house today, okay? " Hannah insisted. She gave me a serious look and Hannah was never serious!
I shrugged, " Fine. "
" Can we talk in private? " Spencer asked nervously.

I was about to object when I heard my name being called for my coffee. I quickly collected it. One skinny vanilla iced latte small, my favourite. Just enough caffeine for a little boost and just enough vanilla for a treat.
I payed and thanked the barista. With my coffee in hand I joined my friends again on the couches.

I took a sip of my coffee and tried to change the subject subtly. I didn't know what Spencer wanted to talk about but if it was about him or the panic attack or anything related the talk was not happening.

" So how are Toby and Caleb? " I asked.
" Seriously Aria, please? " Spencer begged.
" Okay, yeah, we can talk in my car, it's outside. "

Why did Spencer want to talk to me? We walked out to my car and got in.

There was a moment of awkward silence. Spencer was staring at me intently while I gazed out the window.

" Look Aria, " Spencer stumbled, " I need to tell you something. It's going to sound crazy and your probably going to hate me for it but I have to tell you. "
" Did you do something, illegal? "
" No Aria, I've liked this person for a long long time and I've never told this person. "
" Why were you so worried to tell me? Your my best friend, I'd never judge who you liked, even if it was a guy I was dating or someone totally inappropriate. "
" That's just the thing Aria..... "
My phone buzzed and I quickly picked it up. It was Emily.
" You guys have to come quick, " she sounded like she was crying.
" What's wrong Em? "
" A. "
