everyone has a soulmate. once you meet your soulmate, you stop having crushes. so yes you can date someone who isn't your soulmate. but as soon as you see your soulmate it will seem like a crush, but all other crushes you previously had will disappear. often leaving the partner in heartbreak as the other partner has lost the ability to romantically love them.

roman and Remus were twins, to Romulus king and Karen duke. Remus was around 5 when Karen first found out about his sociopathic tendencies. she berated and abused him for that (hypocrite) she always compared him to his brother. when the twins hit ten that's when the world shattered. their dad was pan, everyone knew that, except the Karen. 

here's the thing. when Romulus met Karen what he didn't know is that she was a psychopath

Psychopaths tend to be more manipulative, can be seen by others as more charming, lead a semblance of a normal life, and minimize risk in criminal activities. Sociopaths tend to be more erratic, rage-prone, and unable to lead as much of a normal life.)

 she manipulated him to thinking that she was his soulmate. the only reason as to why is that, Mr. king had money, he was rich. Karen wanted that. though stories, where the mother is abusive to the father, are rare, it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

that was till he told his coworkers what had been happening. he learned that their relationship was unhealthy. and so on his way home, he met Will. Romulus fell head over heels. and Karen upon finding out that he was pan (Will is non-binary) she filed a divorce, hoping that the court would not only give her everything they own but also giving her full custody of roman. so when the divorce trial happened they split the family into two. Remus when with Karen and roman went with Romulus. a few months later Romulus was going to marry his actual soulmate, around the same time Remus brought home a boy. Remus used to have a girlfriend which he later ditched when he found out she was homophobic. Karen had no boundary so when she walked passed Remus's door and saw him making out with another boy she was outraged.

Karen knowing she could use his intrusive thoughts against him, got a conversion therapist and sent him off to a mental hospital, claiming "I refuse to have a ####### living under my roof. i bet your brother has a beautiful girlfriend and is having the time of his STRAIGHT life" sadly she was very very wrong as roman was very very gay. Remus was stuck for 5 years in the hospital since every time he went home and ha medication that could help, Karen threw it out and sent him back saying that he as become a Hazzard again.

after five years Remus had enough so he decided to ask his therapist (who ironically was an lgbtq+ ally since his conversion therapist quit since Remus's gay was too big to handle) if it was normal for his mother to throw away his meds and beat him. 

so you know the deal. a second court proceeding and Karen was arrested and sent to a mental hospital as she was very very sick in the mind. Remus moved back in with his brother.

now a new challenge to face. actual highschool (which ironically I'm not in and won't be in until 2 years would have passed) Remus wouldn't consider himself a nerd but although he seemed very dumb, he liked to read novels. his favorite being among the hidden since he was forced to be hidden when he was with Karen.
