(Taeny) Hung

Chapter 10

“So she's supposed to be dead? Is that what you're saying?” Taeyeon was almost losing her grip.

“Her brain was corrupted in too many areas, Taeyeon. Her brain suffered too much damage from the serum, it affected her recognition ability, her will, even her memories,”

“What serum?” Yuri asked non-hesitantly, and for the first time Tony was the one who's in hesitation. He paused, for too long.

“The lab is still working on that..”

“The serum's familiar to us, as in this is not the first time we ever seen it,” the explanation came out from Effy instead, she knew her brother wouldn't want to inform this. But they already knew who they were dealing with, so there's no point on not telling. “Remember Liquid Snake operation on 2006?”

“Stuttgart,” Yuri mentioned the city where they conducted it.

“The underground drug development ambush,” Taeyeon started to recall it piece by piece. “Nickhun.”

“Isn't he supposed to be in jail for ten years? He was sentenced for ten years right? What the fuck happened?” anger was boiling inside Yuri like a hot pit.

“Good behaviour. He's released after the sixth year.” Tony answered firmly.

“That's bollocks,” Yuri scoffed.

“Apparently he gathered the people from his team right after he was released, and continued the serum's development. Unfortunately, Tiffany is the collateral damage, he decided to test it on her and apparently it worked well.” the psychiatrist elaborate her analysis.

“Weren't they got jailed too?” this time around, Jessica raised a question because she’s been there listening well to the story.

“Nickhun unintentionally made all the evidence existed that time led to him, his team mates' involvement couldn't be revealed. For his team was only consisted of few men that are damn loyal, Nickhun didn't put surveillance cameras around the perimeter. There was no way we could find the connection between his team and the project.” Taeyeon answered thoroughly, and finding Jessica consecutively nodding her head. “Ironically, he got pissed when he knew his team didn't get punished. It was his biggest flaw.” the blonde shrugged.

“Then, how could they continue the development? Didn't you guys confiscate all those stuffs?” Jessica shot another question.

“You realise that your memory has to be erased after all this?” Effy asked the American, thus she got a gaped mouth and wide eyes as a reply from the latter.

“I prefer she doesn't have to go through all that,” Taeyeon strongly suggested with her eyes locked on Effy's. “She's alright, I guarantee.”

“Double guaranteed,” Yuri stepped in, tying herself with such responsibility which caused peculiar stares to fall at her. “What? If Taeyeon says she's alright, then she's alright.”

Tony and Effy shrugged instead of commented, if both of them were willing to put their name, their credibility, their trust, even their lives at stake, then there's nothing they should be worrying about. Meanwhile on the other side of the crowd, Jessica was speechless and burdened.

“You don't have to feel awful, Jessica.” Effy shot bull's eye straight to her mind. “They're the ones who are bound to the oath, not you. So, if you screw up, their heads that will be off their bodies.”

The youngest girl around now positioned in a more difficult situation, she didn't find what Effy said more comforting. Obviously.
A slight regret stormed into her, for just coming to the hospital. She was now between a rock and a hard place.
