A little girl stands there, watching my life's work go down in flames.

She looked starved. Cold. Alone, hurt, but fearless.

She looks like she's been through a lot.

"Are you crying?"

"Crying? Never."

It was a lie.

"It drives you insane when you drown in your passions..."

"...and they all burn down..."

I wasn't surprised. This girl has seen things.

She held my hand.

"Take me with you."

"I can't be seen with anyone."

"But don't you want to start over?"

"What's the point?"

"It's a waste. To leave everything to die and run. Isn't it?"

"I wouldn't be so sure about that."

I'm not sure what I was expecting.

I didn't want to, but I continued my life of manufacturing the best possible students
while she would design and create them.

Where did things become so horrible?
