We arrived at the town center and Alena and I's parents bade us farewell and good luck. We wouldn't see them for awhile, we were only allowed to visit once in the summer and once in the winter, during Christmas. The town center was a large dome building in the center of the city. It was tall and seemed threatening. My sister and I said our goodbyes and our parents left. I looked around at the others who were saying goodbye. Some were breaking down and in tears. Then it hit me. I remembered the words my sister said that morning.

But why? Why do we have to be sent away!? Why...

I realized how wrong this was. My eyes widened as I saw the horror around me. The government was tearing families apart. They brainwashed us to believe this was how it is supposed to be to keep order. Why do we have to be separated? I realized there must be some underlying reason for this system. I turned to tell Alena how wrong this is but that was when I saw a guard walk by. I noticed the guard discreetly listening to everyone's conversations. I closed my mouth. I remembered the stories of people rebelling against the government and being killed for it to show how foolish they were. I remembered the events of a couple years ago of a boy named Roldan. He was at the town center when everyone was about to take the test. He was 15 and refused to be sorted. He told everyone to stop taking the test but he was dragged away by a guard and never seen again. If I said a word I would be killed.

"Alena, let's go." I said, guiding her to the building, we were the last ones outside. She wouldn't take her eyes off the road our parents left on and she wouldn't go into the building. I saw a guard notice us. "We need to go!" I whispered and I pushed her in to avoid suspicion. We entered the entrance hall and on both sides were tall statues of the 16 founders. They smiled down at us. If only they knew what their city has become.

The room was huge. It had a large glass dome overhead and we were in a circular room full of chairs. Alena and I sat in the back. Then a man walked up onto the podium.

"Welcome, children. Now, as you all know, you are about to be administered the personality test. But of course, some of you are curious as to why. It all begins at our 16 founders. There was a horrendous war called the War of Inequality. Now, we have not told you this in school. This is because now you are old enough to understand. Back in that age, all people were not treated with the same importance. They were judged by their appearance and beliefs. This caused a war. The people in this war were trying to distinguish all but those who were just like them. They ended up killing themselves. All but 16 died. These 16 people are our founders. They created a system that involves everyone so all will have a place and be important. This was done by sorting everyone into 16 types. Each type has their own job in society." Here he paused, and looked at the crowd. "Lets begin!"

Everyone cheered and clapped. Almost everyone, I noticed a girl who was not. She had short blonde-brown hair and glasses. She looked at the man on the podium doubtfully. Then suddenly, small tables emerged out of the ground in front of each chair. Everyone had their own. They were made of something clear, perhaps glass. Then the glass lit up, it was a touch screen. It said in bold letters with a square box next to them:

Press finger here to begin.

I supposed they were scanning our fingerprints. I pressed my finger onto the box. Then the screen said :

Welcome, Mackenzie.
Question 1:

□Spending freetime alone
□Spending freetime with others

I liked being with friends and family, but I spend much of my time by myself. I chose the first option.
