Today I'm going to college, I'm super excited but also nervous. Like yeah, I want to leave home and venture into the real world, become the woman I need to be. But on the other hand, I've always had my family by my side and to help and hold me up. Now being thousands of miles away I won't have that support. But I'm ready it's either now or never.
"Hey, Alex I just wanted to drop in to say goodbye one last time."
My best friend Isabella said with tears in her eyes."Oh my God Izzie you scared the leaving crap out of me!"
I semi screamed,"Sorry, "
She chuckled I then went to hug her since I knew this was going to be the last time we saw each other face to face for a long time. You see the problem is Izzie always wanted to go to Arizona for college but I wanted to go to Florida. So that meant we had to go our separate ways. It was super sad at first but following our dreams are more important, because after college we'll move to Texas together. Not in the same house but close together.
I sighed as we let go at this point we were both crying, we didn't want to leave each other but we had to.
"Alexandria, come on girl we got to go!"
I heard my dad yell, he was Mexican so he could yell LOUD."I guess that means you have to go"
My best friend choked out."Yeah, I guess, don't worry I'll see you in like six years in Texas."
I started in a matter-of-factly tone."Don't have a baby before then."
Izzie said laughing"Ditto"
I said before walking out of my room down to my car my parents had bought just two years before. My mom was looking down probably trying to seem like she's not crying, but we all know she is. My dad on the other hand NEVER shows his
emotions. Now looking at myself I resemble my mom more than my dad, I have my mom's skin tone, I have her face shape, I have my dad's nose. Thank God my mom has a big nose, but it suits her. I have both my parents hair type mixed in one, I have my dad's eyes. When people look at my dad and me, they don't think we are related, but getting to know me they see I share my dad's
stubbornness, bluntness, creativity, and practicalness, also a little bit of rudeness. My skin is darker, than my fathers. I also had 3C type hair, mostly coming from my dad since his hair is black and straight. And my mom had puffy black hair. If you haven't caught on my moms black or African American, my dad is Mexican.
"Alright, girly we have to get going if you want to get there on time."
My mom started, at this point, Isabella had already joined us."Okay Alexandria and, Alexandria's parents."
Isabella said in a serious tone, which made us burst out laughing."Okay for reals guys I'm gonna miss you, we have to see each other in like half a two months from now."
Isabella said while whining."We'll see each other soon don't worry."
My dad said,"Yeah because if my daughter comes home you have to come with her."
My mom added. We just sat and talk a little while longer."Oh shoot Isabella, your dad wants you to go home it's time for you to leave. Also, he has a surprise for you."
We already knew what it was her older brother Isaiah had come to visit her. He was already in college in Iowa, he had to go back And it's a long drive to and from Iowa to Nebraska."Alight love you guys, see you soon!"
We said as she ran to her house."Now it's your turn, girly we have to get you to the airport in Tennessee.
