chapter 1

riley's pov

i just posted a tiktok of me doing the do it again dance. "riley! come downstairs real quick!" my mom yells. i run down the stairs. once i get into the living room i see a man with my mom. "hi riley i'm gonna talk to you about some opportunities to boost your career." the man says. "okay. i'm interested." i say stepping closer. "well my name is michael and i work with a lots of tiktok stars like yourself. the sway house boys has asked to have you come over and make some tiktok with them." micheal says. "i have seen there comments" i say chuckling. he chuckles. "so would be willing to go over there? just for an hour or long as you want." micheal asks. "of course! let me go grab my purse." i say running back upstairs and grab my purse and make sure i look presentable. i walk back downstairs to see micheal now at the front door. "after you." he say opening the front door. i smile and walk out the door. i see a beautiful white g-wagon. "wow." i say. "if you take my opportunities you could get something like one day." micheal says. "maybe." i say getting in front seat. micheal gets into the driver's seat. a boy pokes his head out from the back. "holy shit!" i yell in fear. "hi i'm josh richards. i'm apart of the sway house if you didn't know." josh says. "well hi i'm riley Johnson if you didn't know." i say. "i know since the boys have been talking about you nonstop. well we just think you're really cool, so we called up micheal here to get you over here and help you out with your career." josh says. "well i'm here now and we are heading to the sway house so this will be fun." i say. michael is driving at this point. the radio is playing and i'm humming along to the lyrics. all of the sudden that's what makes you beautiful comes on. "you're insecure. don't know what for. you're turning heads when you walk through the door. don't need make-up to cover up. being the way you are is enough." i sing along with the song. "everyone else in the room can see it. everyone else but you." josh sings. i smile. "baby, you light up my world like no body else. the way you flip your gets me overwhelmed. but when you smile at the ground it ain't hard to tell you. you don't know, oh oh. you don't you're beautiful." i sing my heart out. micheal turns off the radio. i look confused at him and then looked at josh and he was recording. "oh god. you were recording the whole time." i say. "yup. i was and i'm posting it." josh says. micheal stops the car. "we are here." micheal says. josh and i hop out. "you coming?" i ask micheal. "No I gotta go do things with Hype House." Micheal says. "Oh okay." I say. He drives away. I wonder who is gonna take me home. I follow josh inside to see a couple boys in the front room. "SHE IS HERE!" Jaden yells. All the sudden more people run into the room. "Well hi everyone if you didn't know I'm Riley Johnson." I say waving to all of them. A few of them wave back. I see avani walking up to me. "Hi I'm avani if you didn't know already. I have been dying to meet you. Just like these boys" she says pointing to the boys. "Aww well I have been debating about coming here and then Micheal came and convinced me. Now I'm glad because I know I'm going make lots of friends here." I say smiling. She smiles back. "Alright everyone give her space. Two to three people at a time to meet her." Bryce says. Jaden and Anthony come up to me. "We are Jaden and Anthony. Jaden found you on his for you page and showed us all your account and we really liked your account and you." Anthony says. "Well how sweet of you Jaden. Well Im here now. I hope we can be really good friends. He smiles

*an hour later*

I'm for sure staying longer this has been the best time of my life. Everyone seems so great and amazing. We were all in the living room just telling random stories. "I was like mom you can't throw a bowl of cereal at robber." Griffin says. All of sudden this boy will white fluffy hair walks in the living room. "What's going on?" He says. "This is that girl were wanting to come over. Remember her name is Riley." Kio says. "Oh right. Hi I'm Quinton Griggs." He says. He is so hot... wait Riley you just met this guy you can not think he attractive. "Nice to meet you... Quinton." I say putting a piece of my hair behind my ear. He smiles and goes and sits down. "We should go swim in the pool." avani says. "I would say yes but I don't got a swimsuit." I say. "I got some bikinis here you could look through and throw one of those on." avani says getting up grabbing my hand. I follow her to this bedroom. It was a huge bed room. "Here there is about 5 of them you can choose between. I'll be in the bathroom changing myself. I'll be out in a minute." She says putting the bikinis on the bed and walking into the bathroom. I choose the red one of course and put it on. I look in the mirror. "Damn I'm looking good." I say. "Yea you do." Avani says scaring me. "Avani you scared the shit outta me." I say breathing heavily. "I'm sorry but maybe getting you outside will help you out." She says grabbing my hand taking me outside. I see all the boys in the pool already. When I noticed Nessa is here. Nessa points over to me and avani causing all the boys to look over at us. I see Quinton looking at me. I run and jump into the pool. Avani

follows along in my actions. I come to the surface and
see Quinton all cover in water. "Riley you splashed me." Quinton whining. "Ohh I did. Well here is my apology." I say splashing him again. "That's it get over here." He says swimming over to me. I swim away and go over to Jaden. "Protect me, Jaden." I say getting behind him. "I will." He chuckles. "I need Riley, Jaden." Quinton says. "Alright. If you can tell me a joke and make me laugh she all yours." Jaden says. I slap his back lightly. "Jaden, no." I whine. He whispers in my ear, "get on the edge of the pool and run when I snap my finger." I nod my head. "You ready to die of laughter Jaden?" Quinton asks. Jaden snaps his finger and I get out of the pool and run. "I win Quinton." Jaden says. "Damn it Jaden." Quinton says rushing to get out of the pool. I ran so fast I don't think Quinton saw me. I hid behind this big shed house thing in the backyard. I chuckle at the thought of Quinton chasing me. I just stand there for a few. "I think I'm safe from Quinton." I say. "Thought wrong, Riley." Quinton says. "shit." I say backing up the wall of the shed. Quinton walks closer to me. I stand there and wince when he lifts up his hand. "Did you think I was gonna hit you?" He asks. "Yea." I say. " I would never hit a girl especially if she so beautiful. Now tell me why you think I would hit you please." He says sitting down against the wall next to me. I sit down along with him. "My dad used to hit me, my mom, and sister. He would always hit my mom first and as the oldest I rushed to protect her always and got hit. Luckily my sister recorded one night of him hitting me and my mom and showed it to her teacher. The school called the cops. Now he is in jail for 20 years." I say in tears. "Riley, I'm so sorry. I'm glad you're safe now." He says wiping away my tears. We are looking each other in the eyes at this point. I start to lean in and he does too. I realize what is happening and hug him instead. He hugs me back after a few seconds very tightly. "Quinton, during that time I cut myself... I really wanted to die. I tried to commit suicide twice, but my sister stopped me every time." I say. He pulls away from the hug and looks me in the eyes. "You're beautiful, kind, and clearly smart for what you did to help your mom. you never deserved what happened to you. Promise me you will never harm yourself ever again." Quinton says holding my hands. "I promise." I say smiling. I kiss his cheek and his cheeks went red. "I found them!" Griffin yells. "Griffin what's are you doing?" Quinton asks. "Looking for you two. Did you guys make out or something?" Griffin asks. "No no just talked about something personally that I will tell the rest of you when I'm ready." I say. "Okay well. Your mom called you Riley. She said you could stay the night if you wanted and make sure to call her when you get the chance." Griffin says handing me my phone. "Thanks Griff." I say. "No problem. Also it would be funny if we were related right? We got the same last name." Griffin says. "Well my dad did have a second family, so only god knows." I say. Griffin chuckles and walks away. I rest my head on Quinton's shoulder. What did I get myself into?
