This was the 10th time that Kiyoshi had tried to sneak one of the flavored fruit snacks he believed were hidden in his bag on the desk during your weekly study session.
"Kiyoshi," you warned nicely, your pencil lightly scratching away at the surface of the worksheet you and the basketball player had been assigned to do at the beginning of the week.
"Sorry," he said, grinning sheepishly at you as you gave a playful roll of your eyes.
"We're never going to get this done if you keep eating instead of writing," you teased. He scratched the back of his neck before grabbing his pencil again and filling in the few lines he'd been behind on.
"I can do both," he insisted, and you let out a small giggle.
"I'll believe it when I see it," you smiled, and it seemed he was once again distracted, although this time not by the food.
You'd been helping Kiyoshi out for quite some time now, and to be quite honest, it'd become something you looked forward to every Wednesday. It was the only day Kiyoshi didn't have basketball practice, and he had practically begged you to help him with his math work, because you were the best that he knew. He'd explained that you wouldn't be tutoring, more like "study buddies", as he had called it. After a few days of relentless asking you'd finally said yes. Now here you were, three months later, sitting at what he had designated "your table" after the first couple of weeks, with a small but growing crush on the brunette giant. You'd unfortunately been so busy trying to cover up your own crush that you hadn't noticed that the feeling was mutual. Ever since you two had begun studying together he offered to carry your books, walk you places, he'd even suggested you visit one of his practices. You'd brushed it off as him being nice, and the Center player wasn't sure how much more obvious he was going to have to be to get your attention.
"[L\N], have you ever had one of these?" he asked, and you flicked your eyes up at him. His expression was innocent, and you two had been working for a few hours in the library, so you decided to humor him and give yourself a small break.
"I don't think so. My mom was always weird about snacks, we always had to eat healthy, so I never got to eat any. Why?"
"Would you like one?" he asked, his eyes lighting up as he slowly pulled the small plastic bag of treats out of his book bag.
"You know we're not even supposed to be eating in the library," you said. "Honestly, Kiyoshi, I didn't know you were such a rule breaker," you giggled as his face turned to mock offense.
"I cannot believe you would say such a vile thing! I thought we were friends!" he gasped. You put the arm of your sweater to your face to smother your laughter.
"Come oooon, [L\N], just one," he insisted, and lightly waved the bag in front of you.
"What if I don't like the flavor?" you asked, and he paused for a few moments, contemplating your question. It wasn't long until his face lit up and his eyes grew a bit wider.
"Close your eyes."
"What? No!"
"Just trust me, it's supposed to...enhance the flavor if you don't see it coming, you can enjoy it more! Izuki said...something like that once. They taste better that way," he was practically pleading now, and with the sad puppy dog look he was giving you right now, you couldn't say no.
"Fine," you sighed and closed your eyes. "Hit me with your best shot." You heard the slight rustle of the plastic and waited for what he was about to do next.
"Okay, now, open your mouth a little," he instructed and you complied, your lips parting slightly, just big enough for it to get through.
It wasn't until a pair of soft lips pressed against your own that you realized what was going on. You could taste the flavor on his lips, cherry, you'd deduced, and it wasn't long before you'd melted into the kiss, as he lightly cupped your cheek and lifted your chin up slightly. He pulled away a few moments later, a small blush dusting his cheeks as he readjusted in his seat.
"Did you like it?" he asked innocently, and you subconsciously licked your bottom lip to taste the sweet flavor again.
"I....did," you finally managed to get out. You sat and bit at your lip for a few moments before speaking again. "Could I...try another?"
The boy in front of you raises his eyebrows as the heat that he thought was fading out resurfaces on his neck. It takes him a moment to register before he nods and smiles at you. He grabs another color and lets it slide between his teeth before leaning in to kiss you again.
He was right, they do taste better this way.
