hazel decided to hop on instagram because she was bored out of her mind, i mean what can you do when you don't have anything to do. lmao

she clicked the instagram app and scrolled.

her favorite person popped up.

emily skinner.

hazel was truly in awe at the girl's looks... and personality of course.

they went to school together and had some of the same classes.

emily liked talking to hazel when she was feeling bored of her friends.

emily was considered "popular". she hung out with the popular group, so it's how she got her rep.

she didn't like the label though.

she was a humble person and didn't like to be mean to others, she wasn't like that.

her friends on the other hand... definitely were.

they acted like they ran the school, and emily didn't like that at all.

she tried to avoid every time her friends were picking on someone because she didn't like it.

she's tried to stop them on multiple occasions, but it always turned out bad.

she found comfort in hazel, and vise versa.

they weren't really close, but it was still a friendship.

what emily didn't know though.. was that hazel had a small crush on her.

hazel never told her because she didn't know if emily swung that way or she just didn't want to make things awkward.

emily actually didn't even know that hazel was bi because she never liked to assume things, even if they were quite obvious.
she liked to be told by that one person because it was only fair.

so hazel double tapped on the girls picture and stopped to read her caption.

hazel smiled at emily's reply, i mean she used her nickname. cute.

she sighed and set her phone down, she looked out her window and saw the bright moon shining through.

she looked at her alarm clock and it read..

10:49 pm

she looked back outside and decided she wanted to hang out there for a while, clear her mind and have a fresh breath of air.

she headed down the stairs and saw her mom sitting on the couch watching a movie, corpse bride to be exact. it was hazel's favorite, she grew up with it.

she smiled at the screen remembering the whole movie and continued her way to walk out the front door.

her mom didn't stop her because this was a regular thing, and it's not like hazel would walk far, she would only sit outside on her porch.

she walked out the front door and closed it.

she headed to her usual spot on her porch, the swinging bench.

she loved that bench so much. all her thoughts revolved around that bench, it was almost like a sacred place for her.

she sat down and looked up.

she didn't see many stars because of the pollution. it saddened her that she wasn't able to see a glimpse of the galaxy... but hey, at least one bright shining star was always there waiting for her.

she looked down to her hands and smiled when she saw her ring on her left pointer finger.

her mother had given that to her, it was one of her most favorite rings she's ever had.

it was silver, a flower with a blue gem in the middle.

she sighed again and looked up, only to see her neighbor walking towards her.

she smiled once he reached her.

"hi haze" johnny said and sat down beside her.

hazel and johnny have known each other practically their whole life.

they've been best friends since they were in diapers. it was crazy how close of a connection they had.

johnny was the first person that hazel had told about her sexuality. he was supportive of her and was happy that she came to him first.

he told her he'd always be there for her whenever she needed him, and she holds that very close to her.

"hi john" she responds and lays her head on his shoulder.

"what's up, how was your day?" he asks wrapping his arm around her.

"it was ok" she sighs and looks up at him.

he frowns down at her.

"did something happen?" he asks.

she shakes her head. "no, it's just the usual."

he nods "well, i'm here now haze. you can talk to me."

she nods with a small smile.

"thank you so much john, you're the best" she tells him, making his heart flutter.

yes, that's right. johnny has feelings for hazel.

he was quite upset when she had told him that she had a small crush developing on emily, but what could he do? 

"it's getting late j. i'll see you tomorrow." she tells him, getting up and pulling him into a hug.

"i love you" he whispers.

"i love you" she responds and pulls away and gives him one last smile.

she walks into her house and closes the door behind her, leaving him standing there on her porch.

his "i love you" wasn't platonic.
