Liv yawned and stretched her arms out wide. She looked over the final page of the document she was working on and let out a satisfied sigh. She was finally done and it had only taken her until ten at night.

She loved Ezra but they needed to work on his research hour predictions. When he had handed her the case that morning, he had told her it wouldn't take more than the day. But here she was, finishing hours after everyone else had already gone home.

She figured he was just taking advantage of the fact that she had more free time. Since taking the bar the week before, all the hours she had devoted to studying were now wide open.

Ezra had taken her out to a celebratory dinner the night after, insisting there was cause for celebration just for her taking the test. She argued the celebration should wait until she found out whether she had passed or not.

She also suspected Ezra was celebrating having his girlfriend back. The last six months she had dedicated every minute outside of work to study for the test. He had played his role of dedicated boyfriend, quizzing her and talking her off the ledge when she was ready to quit, but she knew she hadn't been great company.

She had felt guilty when she didn't just snap back into her old self the moment the test was over. But she had only moved from the stress of preparing to the stress of waiting for her results.

She looked down at the case in front of her and suspected maybe Ezra had given her a big project as payback for all the pain she had caused him the last six months. She told herself she would give him extra kisses the next time she saw him and try to forget the fact that her future as a lawyer hung in the balance.

As she stacked the files she heard footsteps behind her. Before she could turn around, arms snaked around her waist and Ezra kissed her cheek.

"I thought you left," she smiled. She turned her head to kiss him.

"I wanted to wait for you," he said. "And I wanted to kiss you."

She laughed but she knew what he meant. One of the first ground rules they had put into place when they started dating was keeping it one-hundred percent professional at the office, which meant no kissing, no flirting, no partiality, no nothing.

They didn't want their relationship to be a topic in the secretaries rumor mill and they had been successful. After dating for almost a year and a half, only the select few they had chosen to tell knew that they were together.

Of course, they weren't strict rule-followers and they found it thrilling to steal a kiss in a hidden corner every now-and-then. Even after hours, when they were the only ones still at the office, it still felt exciting to kiss in the open.

Liv turned in Ezra's hold, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissed him. He reacted instantly, pulling her as close as he could. At the office, she was usually the one to pull away first.

He could get reckless and say he didn't care about who knew they were together but she did care.

But tonight she didn't pull away.

She held him tight and kissed him deeply, trying to tell him how grateful she was for his patience the last six months without saying a word.

When he was the one to pull away, she found she was disappointed. But the feelings didn't last long when she found him looking at her with his intense dark eyes. His eyes were her favorite thing about him because they had such a wide range of expression.

In the courtroom they were like an impending storm, ready to rip the roof off his opponents' argument. But then she would catch his gaze on her when it was just the two of them in his apartment and the look he gave her was that of a man finally finding what he had been searching for his whole life.
