nakia pov i wake up and look at my clock great today is picking day well its the year of 2030 and the werewolf are running the show. they got us out of covid19 so now they run the world well them and vampires but vampires don't really focus on us humans unless there mates but werewolf's love controlling things. i live in a human pack but us humans are dying out bad. nobody is sparred its rare if humans have babies with humans. men are even getting pregnant by wolf's. my ex who kept cheating on me got a rude awakening when he was mates with a man that boy cried like a bitch and i heard he had gotten pregnant and had a baby. any way i hurry in the bathroom when i was done i put jeans and a sweat shirt with my sneakers. i go down stairs to see my dad passed out on the couch. i walk past him and get my keys and leave. ever she left my dad has been drunk. i walk out the house and head to my car. i get in and and start the car when i get to my best friend mia's house.
she comes running out "bitch today's picking day" mia says annoyed she hates werewolf's to because of my situation.
"i know" i say rolling my eyes "this dude makes these necklaces they hide your scent from the werewolfs" she says calmly "bet we should go get them before we have to go to the picking i say. see the picking is forced on every human were wolfs come late at night when people are sleeping and get there mates. see were wolfs can get there mates at anytime the picking is just a day in every human town when they know that the were wolfs will be looking for the mates like one of the human towns picking was last week now ours is tonight. "you think its gonna work" she asked "were gonna have to try bitch" i say i take a bite of a wing. i dogged them wings like it was my last meal. when we pull up to the guys house and knock on his door he open the door and i see a teen about are age he looks at us "hey" he says he moves aside for us to come in "hey" we say at the same time he walks to back room me and Mia look each other and then follow he walk in the room and i see necklaces with green residue in them "20 bucks for both" the kids says " how we know they work" i ask " this shit works because it burns them" the kid says " so its sliver" mia asked "it has melted silver in it yes but it also has wolf's bane" the kid says i nod "would they still be able to tell if we so happen to be there mates" i asked " if they touch you or make eye contact because they wont be able to smell your scent" the kid says i hand him the 20 " don't say were you got it from that shits illegal" the kid says we nod and walk right out the house. we get in the car and i look at the necklace "this shit gotta works i nod my head she wasn't wrong.
"tomorrow lets go to the club" i says "lets try acid" mia says i look at her me and her love to smoke weed and maybe juul here and there but acid is a whole new damn step

" hey lets hope that the necklace works i says she nods and gets out the car and she walks in the house i drive home to see my dad gone. i walk in the house and get a cold bowl of cereal and head to my room and watch Netflix. when i was done with my cereal i head to bathroom to do my skin routine. when i was done i put the necklace on and head back to my room i keep watching TV till darkness consumes me
