WORKING for one of the most powerful men in Los Angeles isn't an easy job. Honestly, though I find myself completely lucky to meet all the incredible people that I do. Being the assistant to the CEO of WISE Entertainment, I've got a lot of meeting with amazing people. And my boss might be the sweetest guy I've met in such a harsh city.

Tonight, is very important for Martin and his family because Martin's son's girlfriend, Sarah is having a huge birthday party tonight. I was invited by Martin, but I really don't want to impose on Sarah's night considering that we've never really been that close, only passing conversations. She's very sweet and incredibly humble for someone who is so exposed to the public's eye. Luckily for me, I stand in the back of the family and very few people know of my existence and I like to keep it that way, I've never really enjoyed being in any kind of spotlight or a camera. I most definitely hate cameras. When Martin leaves the building early for the day, I stay an hour longer than he told me, but I really can't help it.

It's almost 8 o'clock by the time I leave the office and, on my way, out I run into Lincoln.

"Reyn? What are you still doing here?" He asks me surprised to see me.

"I decided to stay and get a few more things done before heading home for the night." I smile politely.

"Home? What about Sarah's party?"

"Oh, I don't want to intrude. She doesn't know me too well, it would be rude for me to show up." I say and take a step closer toward the door.

"Nonsense, you'll come with me to the venue. I can even take you to your place to get something more appropriate to wear?" My eyes widen at the thought of this very unbelievably rich man seeing the shithole I live in.

"That's alright really! I can just drive myself."

"You'd better show up, or you're fired, missy!" He shouts as he turns and walks away.

I sigh in relief at the fact that he wouldn't be seeing my home.

When I reach the door to my apartment and unlock it, I realize how little time I have now. It's 6:47 and the party is across town and starts at 9 o'clock.

I rush through my shower and curl my shoulder length brown hair, do my makeup in a hurry, and spend most of my time finding a cute outfit. Which I do, at least I think so. I look myself over in the mirror multiple times trying to talk myself out of going but can't.

Sitting in traffic for really close to an hour makes me late, I despise being late to anything, ever. I'm disappointed that when I arrive, there are at least a hundred people. I head straight to the bar because I know how alone I'm about to be this entire night.

I lose count of my drinks, which I know isn't a good idea considering everyone here knows my boss, but no one has spoken to me so far. I'm glad for that, I prefer to by myself.

"REYN!" I hear a shout from next to me. I look over to see the birthday girl and throw a huge smile on my face.

"Sarah! Happy Birthday." I smile and hug her tightly, mostly on the account of how many drinks I've had.

"Oh my gosh Reyn, I'm so glad that you came! What are you doing over here by yourself?" She says completely confused. I smile shyly at her and give her my excuse for not wanting to impose on her. "You're kidding, Reyn Fuller, get your ass over to our table or I will cut you off." She laughs at herself, noticing my level of intoxication.

I jump up from my seat jokingly. "Well, lead the way, please." I gesture for her to walk in front of me.

After almost an hour of laughing and enjoying the company of everyone at the table that is filled with Sarah's friends and most of the Wise's.
