An inspiration:

My name is Ray, I am a former soldier and my training helped me survive the elements laid upon me by this goddamn apocalypse. The outbreak started about two weeks ago, and a lot has happened. My hunting buddy, Lester, was the only man I took before the outpost was raided by the undead freaks. Bad news, he got bitten, and we both know what would happen to him next. I am sorry. I have lost my brother, my best friend, my other best friend, my two cousins, my dog, it's just me and him. And he is bitten. When would this nightmare end?! Why?! Why would you do this to me?! After we left, we found an abandoned building, we thought of taking shelter here, rest up and sleep. There is one thing we realised, a lot of things can happen in a day. I mean, Lester was bit, I lost almost all of my loved ones, and our stuff is still back at the outpost.

Lester: Here, set me down.

Ray: Here you go, you okay?

Lester: My arm...

Ray: Don't worry, you'll be fine...

Lester: Ray, you and I both know that I won't be fine much longer. I am bit, and we both know what will happen. When the time comes...just do it...

Ray: Lester... I know.. I... I..

Lester: Ray...you're the toughest man I know, do it for me, please? When the time comes, I'll just...sit here for a bit. Okay? If my... If the pain goes away, I'll try and help, but that's it... I'm sorry, Ray... I'm deeply sorry.

Lester was my hunting buddy for 4 years. We met during hunting season when both of us saw the same deer. We had an argument, then a moment later, we laughed. That's when we thought to share the deer's bounty. We both agreed. We were inseparable after that. The thought of him dying made me... I have to stay strong.

Ray: Lester, I'm gonna check out this building, be right back.

Lester: Okay...I'll just be here...

I then checked around the building, it's only just a square box. I think this is a ranger station, a forest ranger station, the things here can be useful, just not when fighting a zombie. It has chain link fences outside, though the entrance is broken. There is also a generator just near the fences, if I have fuel, and wires, I could link it and I could use it to electrify zombies. But I don't have those yet. All I have is...an empty rifle, an almost empty pistol, my bag with decent amount of supplies, my torn combat uniform and my worn out kevlar vest. I also have glasses, I should get a spare, I'm starting to see cracks on this. The station only has a desk, a chair, a map of the area, a uniform of a ranger, and a hunting rifle with 5 clips. This should come in handy.

Ray: Lester, you don't mind if I change?

Lester: Can't do anything about it...plus we known each other for years, I'm okay with that.

I then removed my vest and my clothing and put on the ranger uniform. Somehow, it fits! Good side of being a 5'11 tall man. I didn't bother to put on the hat, cause it's not radiating a ton of heat and light. It's mostly cloudy, without a chance of precipitation. I then took the hunting rifle with no scope and slung it over my shoulder, I also took the clips. I then checked the desk. It has a CB radio, a flashlight, a basic first aid kit, and a picture of...the ranger and his wife... Oh God... Poor man, but...he and maybe his wife are unfortunate casualties. The first aid kit only has disinfectant and a gauze kit, no painkillers.

Ray: Sorry, Lester, but no painkillers.

Lester: Ngggg, it's okay... But hurry though, I may not be alive next time, but I'll try to be useful once I'm okay...

As I move over to check more, my foot trip on a dislodged floor board. I then took out the floor board and found a hatch.

Ray: Lester, a hatch!
