Chapter one

Okay so at the moment I'm in a creative rut with my other story Extinction so I started this story! I decided to make it a different genre as fantasy is a little bit easier to write :p

This first chapter seems a bit dark and thriller like but I plan to make it lighter and more humorous when more characters are introduced :D

So! I hope you enjoy it, leave a comment with your thoughts vote etc :)

P.s if you think you have a story I might like (I like sci-fi, fantasy with a bit of romance) post it in the comments below and I'll try to read it!

-----

There are three stages of the Shadow Creatures. The first species are easier to control; they are more placid and like to tease than harm people. The second is a bit more difficult. They like to play around with your mind by keeping themselves in subtle view, making those creaking and suspicious noises that you sometimes hear at night. But can never find the source of them.

And the third, well I hope and pray you never have to encounter the third species. Thankfully there are not so many encounters of them. But the ones that are known show they are brutal and unforgiving. The sadistic creatures start out by showing unbelievable beauty, they seduce and persuade you. The closer you get to them, is closer that you get to death. The once beautiful creatures that you saw at first… have become horrifying.

The victims of the stories of the third species never made it out alive to tell the tale. So you could say they were myths, twisted around until you couldn't be sure of the truth. They were myths, until now. One lucky victim survived to tell her cruel and monstrous tale. And she will continue living until she gets her revenge on the Shadow Creatures.

So remember if you hear a creak in the middle of the night, or a flicker of darkness skit across the corner of your eyes. Be careful when you think to brush it off, because you never know what creatures hide and take comfort in the shadows of the world.

After all, the Shadow Keepers who hunts their revenge can only do so much to help.

----------------

The bodies mingled and ground together to the beat of the addictive music. Laughter and shouts could be heard beneath it. The air was thick, clogged up with body heat and smoke that swirled in between the tight spaces of each body. Darkness concealed the corners making a canopy over the shifting figures that could only be seen out of the corner of your eyes.

Aura danced to the beat ignoring the overheated feeling she had and the buzz in her head that made her feel dizzy as the feeling of ecstasy and pleasure passed through her body. She felt a nudge in her side and she broke out of her trance like state gazing at the intruder of her pleasure. She sized up the man down from his messy hair, silver eyes and his perfectly chiseled body. He smiled at her with his razor sharp teeth and glanced down to his palm which held different coloured packets of power. Aura followed his gaze and then looked back into his eyes. She shook her head in refusal and stuck out her tongue which was dyed a blue colour. The guy smirked at her and gave her a wink.

'Maybe another time?' he mouthed to her as the music was too loud to hear any other noise. She shrugged in reply as he walked away into the crowd.

Aura glanced around noticing a couple close to the darkness in the corner they both held the others wrist up to their mouth, faces strewn with pleasure. She looked away knowing that even though they were in plain public she still felt that she was intruding.

She felt eyes watching her as she looked straight into the darkness and a chilling feeling washed through her. A shiver ran down her spine as she forced her eyes away.

It was then she felt her thirst and dehydration so she decided it would be best to get a drink before the withdrawal began and she wouldn’t be able to do her job. Aura began to wade herself through the crowd of bodies as she headed towards the bar.

"The usual Aura?" Pierre asked with a smirk lingering on his lips, but the warmth in his eyes made it playful and welcoming. Aura returned the smile and nodded taking the only free seat at the bar as most of the other people were dancing to the intoxicating music. Pierre slid a glass in front of Aura. The clear glass contained a pink liquid that seemed to sparkle and steam. Her fingers delicately clasped the glass as she lifted it to her lips and took one sip of the liquid. The buzz was back in an instant spreading from her tongue all through her body, her eyes hazed over and a smile took place on her lips.

She downed the rest of the glass within a heartbeat feeling the buzz increase ten times more. Tingles ran through to her finger tips and she couldn't sit still anymore as she tapped her fingers on the table to the beat of the music.

Placing the right amount of money onto the bar counter she moved back onto the dance floor returning into her trance as she moved her body in time with the fast music. She almost missed the slight flicker of the dim lights above her, but unlike the others who did miss it, she caught it just in time. Just in time to notice that the familiar feeling of eyes watching over her in the darkness had disappeared, just in time to hear the blood curdling scream that was almost drowned out by the thumping music.

Aura ran towards the exit, slamming the doors open and pushing away anything that stood in her path. The streets were occupied by only a few party goers that were leaving. None of them looked alarmed or shocked. She glanced around looking for any signs of disturbance. But she found none. Just as she was about to go back into the club she noticed something, something that was easily overlooked.

With her thick blade in her hand, which was pulled from her leather coat, she cautiously walked over to the brick wall. She bent down on her knees and inspected the bloody hand print that was smeared over the wall, slightly distorted as though the victim had been dragged away. She quickly stood up and jogged down the alley next to the wall, searching for a body or another clue. But yet again there was nothing, and nothing was overlooked.

Aura sighed as she put her blade back in her inside coat pocket and retrieved her phone and dialled the familiar number.

"It's me, there's been another disappearance" She said with a grimace, rubbing her tongue over her sharp teeth, as she began to walk down the dimly lit streets, feeling the all too familiar feeling of the eyes return again.
