Aura was back in her bedroom after Felix had said he’d dosome research and get back to her on her question. She hoped that her question would be answered with a ‘no’ but her brain reminded her that all of the evidence pointed to a ‘yes’.

Aura rubbed her face as she tried to push the thoughts away. She pushed herself up from her bed and walked towards her bathroom. She decided that a nice warm shower should help her relax. She flicked on the lights and turned on the shower. She quickly wiped off the mascara and eyeliner which seemed to be a bit more difficult than she imagined. Two makeup wipes and a lot of irritated huffing later, the makeup was removed making her topaz blue eyes seem bare compared to before.

She quickly pulled out the clips that held half of her fiery red hair away from her face. Her hair tumbled down to her lower back and fell over her face. Even though she hated how annoying her long thick and curly hair could be, she could bare to have it cut off. Plus, it made it easier when she wanted to put it up.

Aura stripped off and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water pour down her back. She quickly washed her hair then grabbed two towels to wrap around her body and hair before the cold got to her.

She went back into her room to find an unexpected figure on her bed. Auras mouth dropped to the floor as her eyes narrowed on the intruder.

“What are you doing in my room?” She screamed at the well-built teenager that was lying back on her bed with his arms tucked behind his head. He grinned at Aura as she waited for his answer impatiently. Aura growled at him and he chuckled at her. He knew how hot tempered Aura was and he loved it. She thought she looked intimidating as she stood there with her arms crossed over her chest, eyes narrowed and all. But he couldn’t take her seriously. She looked as intimidating as a puppy. He let his eyes roam over her slender and curvy figure, happy that the towel could only cover so much of her body.

“Theo!” She screeched again. He reluctantly dragged his eyes away from the view and looked up to her face that was fuming with anger.

“That wasn’t a very nice hello” His smirk grew wider as her face turned even redder.

“What are you doing in my room?” She asked between clenched teeth. She watched Theo as he sighed and moved into a sitting position. He ruffled his short brown hair and looked at her with his piercing green eyes.

“I haven’t seen you in ages. Is it a crime to visit?” His eyes sparkled with humour as his smirk remained on his lips.

“When I’m half naked yes it is!” Aura huffed as she walked towards her wardrobe in attempt to find something to cover herself.

“You don’t have to tell me that sweetheart” She heard Theo call from behind her.

“Ugh!” She slammed the wardrobe door shut but it only muffled Theo’s chuckles. He was so infuriating! Aura had known Theo since they were children. He was taken in from the streets and he had been family ever since. Theo was two years older than Aura and he didn’t spend one day when he didn’t bring it up. He knew Auras personality and that she was a very competitive person. She hated it and he loved it, being the annoying person that he is.

She quickly changed into a loose top and shorts then stormed back into her room to find Theo still sitting on her bed.

“You know what?” He asked her seriously, narrowing his eyes the way he did when he was thinking about something.

“What Theo?” She asked raising one eyebrow and let out a long sigh.

“I prefer you with the towel” Theo’s face lit up with a grin as he shield his face just in time as Aura threw the closest thing within her reach. Unfortunately it was a pillow. She hoped for a book or something that’d do a bit more damage.

“Hey!” He shouted at her as the pillow hit his, and not this face. “Really Aura? A pillow?” He raised his eyebrows. “I expected a lot more from you” Aura’s lips turned up into a smirk.

“Oh really ?” She asked playfully. “Then how about this?” She turned to her bookshelf, and this time picked up a rather thick book and threw it straight smack into his face. She watched as his eyes flew open wide and he tried to cover his face. But he was too late. Aura grinned as she heard the satisfying ‘umph’ he made when the book made contact with his face.

“That was better” He smirked again as he rubbed his face. “It actually hurt a little”

“Good. Now watch what comes out of your mouth next time. Or I’ll use something a lot worse”

“I bet” He roamed his eyes over her body again and chuckled as she narrowed her eyes at him. “I missed you Aura. Why did I go away for so long again?” Theo stuck his bottom lip out at her looking adorable.

“I haven’t got a clue. But you know what? It was great for me” Aura stuck her tongue out at him as she watched his mouth drop. “I’m kidding!” She burst out laughing. “I miss you too I suppose” She really did, he was her best friend. She walked over to her bed and climbed under the covers snuggling up to Theo.

“So how did everything go?” Aura asked Theo. He’d been away for 2 weeks tracking some Shadow Creatures that had been spotted. Theo was one of the main trackers and if he couldn’t find the creature, then no one else would be able to.

“We tracked them down to a small town. There were two of them, nothing I can’t handle” Theo looked down at Aura and smirked. She hit his arm lightly as he chuckled. His face grew serious then. “We heard them attacking a victim and rushed to help, but there was no one there” Aura felt a wash of déjà vu come over her. “I caught a glimpse of the creature. Her face was beautiful, everything about her was. If it weren’t for the screams that woke me up from my trance I would have walked straight up to her and done anything” He almost growled the last part. Aura noticed his hands were clenched into tight fists. “She smirked menacingly at me. It was then I noticed the blood that covered her clothing and face. She became horrifying, but still unbelievably beautiful. It made me sick to think that something like her was beautiful. I swear all I did was blink. Then she was gone”

“Did you find the victim?” Aura asked in a quiet voice. He looked down at her and she realised his eyes were glazed over as he remembered the scene.

“No” His eyebrows furrowed together. “We couldn’t find the creatures or the victim” Aura felt nervous as she realised that this just put more evidence towards her question.

“Theo?” Aura looked up at him and he smiled down at her.

“Yes?”

“The same thing happened to me. Tonight” She watched as his smile disappeared from his face and his fists clenched even tighter. At that moment she knew that the question that she dreaded to find the answer to was playing on his mind too.
