Rain poured heavily, drenching anyone who was exposed to its elements. Dark clouds covered the sky, blocking out the light of the moon.
Most people avoided going out at night, especially with this weather. It's dangerous. Well, it's dangerous for humans.
A young woman walked down the streets, her clothes dripping with rain water.
Looking around, she concluded she wasn't being followed. Getting a running start, she jumped up on to the nearest roof before continuing on her way.
Lightning flashed and thunder boomed. It would be wise to find somewhere to take cover. With that in mind the young woman looked for any shops that would still be open at this late hour.
She paused on the roofs and grinned. A mask shop hidden in plain sight. She jumped down from the roof, making her way over to the shop.
HySy ArtMask Studio.
Pushing on the door, it swung open. She walked in, closing the door behind her.
She looked around, admiring the beautifully designed masks on the wall.
When she turned, the woman jumped. There stood a tall, lanky man in front of her, his body hunched over. He was looking at her curiously.
She took a deep breath.
"Are you the owner?" She questioned.
He blinked. "Ah," he said, standing up, "that is a rather plain mask."
Her hand reached up to the gas mask that covered her face subconsciously. "It doesn't matter if it's plain as long as it hides my identity."
The man stared at her, his expression not giving away any of his thoughts.
"I could make you a mask." He suggested, facial expressions still not changing.
Y/n moved her wet stands of hair out of her face. "What's the price?"
The man shrugged. He didn't really feel like admitting that seeing her suddenly gave him inspiration.
"Do you want me to or not?"
It was the woman's turn to shrug. "Sure. I'm Y/n."
"Uta."
Uta circled around her, stopping when he was once again in front of her.
"Can you take the gas mask off?"
Y/n did as he asked and removed the mask from her face. Uta left, returning with his sketch book and a pencil.
He stared at her face, his expression still blank. Looking down, he started to sketch out the ideas that came to his mind.
"You can sit over there," he said, pointing to a chair.
"Babe?"
Uta snapped out of his thoughts, looking down to see Y/n staring up at him.
"Don't space out like that while you're giving me a tattoo." She instructed, glaring up at her boyfriend. A small smirk slipped on to his lips.
"Sorry." He said, going back to what he was doing.
"What were you even thinking about?" She questioned, not fazed by the pricks of the ink gun.
"That my hair needs to be touched up again."
"Already? I wish my hair grew that fast."
Uta rolled his eyes, finishing the tattoo. Y/n sat up excitedly, admiring the ink on her chest.
"Now we match." She grinned up at him. Uta patted her head before handing her the shirt that had discarded.
"Put this on before a costumer walks in."
Y/n pouted but nevertheless slipped her shirt back on. She jumped up, following Uta back to his work station. He sat down, picking up his sketch book.
Y/n sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and getting comfortable.
"It's hard for me to draw with you on my lap." Uta pointed out, the smirk back on his lips.
"To bad," Y/n said, knowing that he's used to her being on his lap and that he just wants to give her a hard time.
Uta rolled his eyes at her. Situating himself to a more comfortable position, he started to sketch. It was quiet while he worked.
While he drew, he thought back to when he had first met the woman in his lap.
Stormseeker.
He had realised she was a ghoul as soon as she stepped into his shop. He just hadn't expected her to be so alluring.
After he made her mask she came to visit him often. On stormy nights, she would more often than not show up wounded.
That was because she was more active during storms, which was why the CCG called her Stormseeker.
Something quickly blossomed between them. Although they had never made it official, he knew that she belonged to him and him to her.
"Babe?"
Uta didn't look away from the paper he was drawing on.
"Yes my muse?" Her cheeks flushed when he called her that. How he loved the way she reacted towards him. She hid her face back in his neck.
"Nevermind..." She mumbled. Uta sighed and rubbed circles into the small of her back.
"You can't get my attention then not tell me what you want." He said, placing his sketch book and pencil down.
Y/n looked up at him, her cheeks still flushed red.
"I love you."
Uta leaned down, kissing her lips softly.
"I love you too."
