Zayne arrived at school on the big yellowish orange monster of a bus. He hated riding the bus it made the fifteen minute ride to his house into an hour trip. But he rode it just the same. As Zayne stepped off the bus the courtyard was in full spring people were abuzz with some kind of drama. It didn't take long before Zaynes friend Willow came up. Her dyed bright red hair noticeable. Willow smiled as she saw her friend she spoke saying "you never gonna believe who's starting this semester!"Zayne saw him across the handsome face was hard to miss so he smiled at his friend saying "Tomas Blackburn."
Willows face fell confused as she said "how did you?"
But Zayne pointed saying "he's right over their."
Willow pushed his hand down saying "oh, but aren't you the atleast bit excited?"
Zayne shrugged walking towards the school building saying "why? Because some rich kid decided to go to school here."
Willow rolled her eyes and said "that rich kid has been a mystery sense they moved here, hell the whole family has."
It was zayne's turn to roll his eyes as they walked the crowded halls. Zayne spoke saying "there just a family yeah, it's a little strange that they keep to themselves but, a lot of people keep to themselves."
Willow smirked saying "yeah but, mostly people with something to hide."
Zayne shook his head saying "you believe what you want but what I'm gonna believe is I'm going to get detention for the third time this week if we don't hurry up."
Willow dropped the topic for now as they hurried to class making it to there seats just in time for the bell. Normally Zayne wouldn't care about detention but, he was already on thin ice at home and really didn't need that call home. Zayne looked around the class room not seeing the face of Jefferson's highs newest addition. The teacher Ms. Birdy spoke saying "ok class hush up now." The class settled and the day began. Zayne sat in class after class and no body could talk about anything else but Tomas Blackburn. He'd not seen the guy himself beside the glimpse this morning and he was glad of it he'd never met the guy but he was starting to hate the boy from a far. He was so tired of hearing that name. Everyone had there own theory about why the guy had come here but, no one had had the courage to talk to him. All they could do is talk. As Zayne walked into his last class he saw him sitting in the back of the room. Zayne rolled his eyes knowing this class was going to be even worse now with half the class drooling over The Blackburn boy. Zayne could admit he was handsome. He had very soft features some would call it a baby face but there was something off about it if you looked to long his nose was a slight bit crooked. Zayne thought could be it was broken before but that just made him wonder what kind of labor could cause a pretty boy like him to break his nose. He watched as the boy smiled it went away almost as soon as it happened but it was enough. After the smile Zayne got a little more intrigued by Tomas wondering what made his face light up for the briefest of seconds. But his curiosity passed somewhat and Zayne took his normal back of the room seat. But, unfortunately there were a bunch of interlopers in the back today probably because that's where Tomas decided to sit. Zayne couldn't help sneaking looks at the guy, to know what had everyone else so worked up. He couldn't quite place it the dude was just a dude to Zayne. Maybe, a little better looking and dressed then most the button down really standing out among the t shirts most kids wore. But just a dude, who looked like he was getting increasingly bored as the teacher droned on with her lesson. It was history so Zayne wasn't worried about paying attention they learned the same thing almost every year. Zayne saw a girl who's name he thought was Emily pass a note to another girl who's name for the life of him he couldn't remember. But as soon as the note was passed the teacher turned her head and saw it. The girls looked sheepish heads down pretending to take notes. The teacher ,Mrs Andrews, spoke saying "Emily sense my lecture isn't worth your attention would you care to share what is?"
Emily shook her head and said "I'm sorry Ma'am it won't happen again."
For any other teacher the apology would have sufficed but. Mrs Andrews was a hard ass and said "no Emily please do share."
Emily was blushing now her tan cheeks bright crimson red. She read the note allowed then saying "I wonder what possessed someone as rich as the Blackburn's to send there son to our crappy high school."
Mrs Andrews with her arms crossed was a vindictive kind of women she pushed her glasses up that usual sat on the edge of her nose and said "well, Tomas if you don't mind could you please answer Emily's question. It might set the poor girls mind at ease."
Tomas looked up from his text book he didn't seem the least bit embarrassed he looked bored mostly as he said "of course ma'am."
That was the first time Zayne had ever heard Tomas speak and he had an accent Zayne couldn't quite place it was southern but, had a hint of elegancy to it. Tomas spoke again "My mother thought it would be good for me to experience a school setting I've been homeschooled most my life you see and she wants to prep me for college."
Ms Andrews smiled a satisfied smirk and said "thank you Tomas. Now Emily is your curiosity satisfied can I get back to my lesson?"
Emily looked like she wanted to disappear under her desk as she said "yes ma'am I'm sorry again."
Class started again and there were no more interruptions and one mystery about Tomas Blackburn had been solved. It didn't take long for the bell to ring and everyone to be dismissed. Tomas was one of the last to leave not in any hurry as he packed up his things. Zayne was one of the first even though he'd have to wait on the bus it still felt good to get out of the school. As Zayne waited to board the bus he saw Tomas again getting on a motorcycle he could almost roll his eyes at what the thing probably cost. But, hey he didn't blame the guy if he could afford it he would want a bike like that too. It was a beautiful machine. Zayne couldn't fixate on it long though as it was his turn to board the bus.
