"Can't you just let me drink from a human just once?" I plead. Jarien shakes his head furiously. "We are trying to train you to control yourself. We can't allow you to get out of hand." Luca tells me. Jarien licks his lips of the blood and sticks his cup in the sink. "Training will start tomorrow." He says simply as he sticks on black sunglasses and walks outside. "Why is he wearing sunglasses when it is 11:00pm?" I ask. "Don't ask. You need to get some rest. You have a big day ahead of you tomorrow. Get your things from the car and go upstairs to the guest bedroom. I will be sleeping on the couch and Jarien will of course sleep in his bed." Luca says. I roll my eyes. "Okay dad." I smirk and walk outside to gather my things.
When I walk outside I see that Jarien is sitting on a bench that sits right outside of the cottage. He's just listening to music and looking at the sky. The moonlight shines directly on the cottage, chasing a shadow all around us. When Jarien sees me he turns off his music and walks over to me. "Freya, is it?" He asks. "No. It's Arabella." I correct him. He looks at me confused but shrugs. Although my real name is Freya, my name was legally changed to Arabella. Arabella is also the only name I am used to going by, so that's the one I'm sticking with. "Do you know how to fight?" He asks. "Um.. no. Why would I need to?" I give him a weird look. "They aren't going to give up without a fight. You are wanted. By everyone." He mutters, and goes back inside.
When I get back inside, Luca is laying down on the couch in the living room and Jarien is in his bedroom that was built onto the side of the cottage. I have the box in my hand and my duffle bag ontop of it and I quietly walk upstairs to where I was told the guest room would be.
The guest room had a double sized bed with a really fluffy comforter that made it look like it was the most comfortable bed that I could lay on. I look around the room some more and just like the living room, plants hung from the ceiling. There was a tiny white dresser that was in a corner of the room. The floor was hard wood flooring, but there was a very soft rug in the middle of the floor to counterbalance it. The room had a window that looked out to the front of the house. The stars in the sky were very bright tonight. That was a very big perk of living in the middle of the forest. You can see the stars so clearly every night because there is no light to drown it out.
I unpack everything, assuming we will be here for awhile. I put all of my clothes in the dresser and I put the jewelry box ontop of the dresser. I open it up and stare at the family crest. I crack a smile and pick up the pendant and put it on. The necklace fits around my neck perfectly. It feels destined to be. I feel power from it just seeping into me. This pendant was magical.
I change into pajamas and settle into bed. It's been really stressful the last few days and being in this cottage makes me feel at peace. It had a very peaceful vibe to it and the smell of the plants filled the house.
DING DING DING
"WAKE UP SLEEPY BEAUTY!! IT'S TRAINING TIME" A voice rings in my ear, waking me up out of a sound sleep. I open my eyes to see Jarien and I glare at him. "What time is is?" I growl. "6:50am. Get your ass up. Time to train." He says, handing me a coffee cup full of blood and walks away. I put the coffee cup on the nightstand and groan, burying my face into the pillow and go back go sleep.I feel a pillow hitting my head. "IT'S TIME TO TRAIN!" Jarien yells, pulling me out of bed. I look at the clock and it is now 7:00am. "Get ready and don't make me come back up here." He demands and stomps down the stairs. I roll my eyes and go into the dresser to get some black sweatpants and a bright pink tank top.
I change into the clothes and put my hair into a high ponytail and head downstairs after I put on my shoes. I had already drank the blood when I was getting ready. I skip doing makeup because let's be honest, fuck makeup this early.
When I get downstairs both Luca and Jarien are outside. Luca had on grey sweatpants and a blue tshirt and Jarien had on a blue, purple, and yellow shirt on. It was silk and had a black dragon on it. He also had on white silk shorts. I glared at the both of them. "Why this early?" I groan. "Because we have a lot to do today and the earlier the better." Luca says. Jarien nods his head and throws a medium sized wooden pole at me. I look at him oddly as I catch it. "I dont trust you with a sword right away, and Luca told me I wasnt allowed to stab you. So this will do until you can handle a sword." Jarien explain. "You wanted to stab me?!" I exclaim. Jarien shrugs and grabs his own pole. Luca steps aside and sits over on the bench to stay out of our way.
"When I start coming at you, you need to block my pole with yours." Jarien explains. I scoff at how easy that sounds. Jarien runs at me and starts to hit me with the pole when I block it. He smirks and keeps trying to hit me when I block it again. "Okay. Now you hit me." He says. The minute i even go to hit him, he immediately blocks it and pushes my pole away with his. "You can do better than that." He taunts. I run at him full speed and almost hit him with the pole when he blocks it again. "Better." He smiles. When he runs at me with full speed and I misstep on a rock and fall flat on my butt. Jarien smirks and Luca helps me up. "Again." Jarien demands.
"Dont you think the poor girl can use a break?" A voice of a girl comes from behind us. Her skin is a milk chocolate color and her eyes are a beautiful golden yellow. Her bright blue hair was braided into long dreadlocks. She wore a beautiful long red dress the covered her legs and she had a white denim jacket covering her shoulders. She wore white strappy sandals and silver hoop earrings. "ALANA!!" Jarien yells. Luca smiles at her. "Hi boys." She smiles. She walks over to me and stares at me intently. "Your beauty is mesmerizing." She whispers. "Alana, meet Freya." Luca says. "Arabella." I correct him. She raises an eyebrow when I say Arabella and she looks at Luca. "Arabella is her name that her foster parents gave her." He explains. Alana nods and looks back at me. She twirls a strand of my hair in her fingers and smiles. "Amazing." She says and then backs away from me and goes in the house.
