CHAPTER TWO:WHEN I MET HIM

I turned to face Bri and see if she'd finished her call. I knew she was talking to Erick since that's what he and Jake liked to do whenever they planned something. Erick was Jake's cousin and Brianna's boyfriend and somehow we'd all ended up in the same University.Once in a while the thought that probably we'd all gotten in because of Jake's dad crossed my mind.He was the president of the university and so it could lead to one thinking that.However, I liked to think that my hard work and determination is what landed me a spot here.

Bri finished her call and to affirm what I already knew she told me that Erick would be picking us up in the next two hours.

I had finished arranging my stuff and since I had an hour to spare,I took a nap.

At 7:00pm,Erick parked at the lot closest to our dorm. We shared with the Eastern dorm so there was no lot that was directly in front of the dorm.

I watched as Bri ran into his arms and he twirled her around. They were a cute couple. They have been dating for around 3 years now and they seem to be stronger than ever each and every time.

"I wish I could have something like that"
Let's just say I wasn't lucky in the love department.You'd think that because the hottest guy in my school is....correction, in my former school...is my best friend I'd be lucky but that wasn't the case.At some point I even wished that the best friend chemistry is what nature had in store for me... But nope... Still single and lonely. Not to lie but I have a bit of a crush on my best friend... Shhh! It's our little secret. And who wouldn't,he was really hot and those kind of guys that would love with their whole heart when they find the one. You guessed it, he's a bad boy.I know,I know y'all are shocked that he's got a best friend. Stereotypes.Anyway back to reality.

Erick was a tall lean guy with a beautifully
defined body.He has auburn(brown) hair and a matching eye colour.He was a funny dude,always telling lame jokes but ends up making people laugh.

"Sorry to break your happy reunion but can we go now,"I spoke up. I was getting tired of the weird looks people were giving me looking at me as some third wheel ruining the party of two.
"Sorry, "Erick said with a laugh
"I've really missed him,"Bri said with her dreamy look. she always had it when she referred to Erick.
"You've only been apart for a day Bri"
"Even though,"she said as we boarded Erick's car,"isn't he hot today,"she added
I just rolledu eyes at her. I couldn't Denis Erick looked 🔥.He had a white tank top made of light material making it easy for one to see his abs,His childish look complimented his almost Greek god body.

It took us twenty minutes to get there. The Dvarc's mansion was at the other far end of campus, away from all the other buildings. We were ushered in by,Daniel,their butler.He had a charming smile and a nice Briton accent that felt welcoming.

"Sweet Mira,"Jake shouted as I got into the house. I was the last person to enter. He wound his hands around me and pulled me into a hug. I could feel his strong coffee scent that always gave me this tingly feeling.I wound my hands around him too returning the hug.We lingered like that for a while until he broke the silence,
"I've missed you Mira"
"What's wrong with you and Bri. The extent of how you miss people after a day is equivalent of how I'd miss you after a month. "
"Ouch,"he said feigning hurt.

"Guys,if you ain't hungry,I am"shouted my other best friend.
I hadn't noticed that Jake and I were still hugging until she said so.
"Go ahead and eat. The pizza is on the kitchen counter, "Jake shouted to her as he loosened the hug.
"That's much better"she shouted back.

Jake took my hand and led me to words the living room. It was normal for us to hold hands but of late I kinda dreaded it.His every touch had an impact on me and since I'm quite a reader,I didn't like the conclusion my mind was coming up with. Mostly because I knew it would never be returned.

We joined Erick and Bri as they argued over which movie to watch.Finally they settled on.......... They sat on the white love seat while Jake and I sat opposite them. Jake hang a hand over my shoulder and I leaned onto him. I didn't concentrate on the movie since I was just looking at the cute couple before me and wishing I had something like that.Call me a freak or whatever, but most of my life I've only had grandma and Jake.They clearly can't give you that kind of love.Bri had caught me looking at them several times and so I decided to divert my attention to the movie.But it wasn't for long.Jake started stroking my skin with his finger making me look at him. He gave me a smile and averted his eyes back to the screen.
"What's wrong?"I asked
His tanned skin looked tired and some bags had made an appearance beneath his eyes.Something that usually happened when he lacked sleep or was seriously stressed or, you guessed it,both.
"Nothing... Why?"He answered.
"Jake you know you can't lie to me,"
"I'm I. Do I look like I'm lying,"he said trying to feign his most innocent look.
"You look cute""Huh?""I mean...uhm... When you lie you your ear twitches."
I won't know why I even reacted like that... Ain't it normal to tell your best friend they are cute.I guess it's a bit creepy when you have 'more than a friend' in mind.
"I'm fine.Don't worry"
"You're parents are involved?"Every bad boy has something in their life that makes them or made them or is making them broken in sine way. For Jake it was his relationship with the parents. Let's just say it isn't the best.
"I don't feel like talking about it"I nodded in apprehension. I placed my head on his shoulder and this time I watched the movie.
After a while I excused myself to go to the washroom.
"First door on your right, "Jake told me.
The Dvarc's mansion was massive and modern. The main theme was white with a hint of grey here and there.Something about the house screamed cold even though I really fancied the colour scheme and the furnishing. After finishing my business,I took a look at myself. I looked at the Sandy haired girl in the reflection and smiled. She looked jovial and happy as if nothing wrong has ever or could ever happen to her.She looked beautiful.
I washed my hands and on my way back to the living room,I decided to take a drink from the kitchen.It wasn't that hard to locate it.I got to the refrigerator and opened it to choose my drink of choice.
"Aha... Red Bull,"I needed it for the energy.
I closed the refrigerator with the drink in my hand waiting to go and join the others.
"Aaaaaaaaaa...,"I screamt.
"Shhh woman you're gonna blast my eardrums, "the guy in front of me said.
He was tall lad with onyx hair.
"You scared me!"I said in one breath earning only a smirk from the guy.
"So you are Jake's latest slut, "he said eyeing from head to toe.
I gasped, "How dare you...I'm,...I'm just... his bestfriend,"I stammered. He was too close for my liking and his intense scrutinizing eyes were not doing anything to calm down my nerves.
"Just?"He scoffed."Yeah...uhm I need to go back to the others. "I said getting out of that kitchen as fast as possible. When I was out of there I realized that I didn't even ask the guy's name.
"Guy's there is a...,"
"Shhhhh, "everyone shouted at me before I could even finish the sentence.I rolled my eyes at them and joined Jake at the seat. In 10 minutes the movie ended.

"What were you saying sweet Mira,"Jake asked me with drowsy eyes he looked so tired.
"When?"
"You have quite a short memory.A few minutes after you came from the washroom."
" Oooh then...what's wrong? "Jake's eyes went from drowsy to alert .
I looked at where his eyes were riveted at and saw the guy from earlier.
"Who's he?"I asked silently. I could see that Erick was also a bit tensed.Bri looked confused.
"What are you doing here?"Jake asked him.
"Can't I now come to my father's house? "
I gasped in shock. As far as I knew Jake was an only child. Bri shared the same look I had,total confusion.
"Anyway, I was on my way out...and by the way,"he added,"you're 'bestfriend' is beautiful and so sweet,"
"Stay away from her, "he said between gritted teeth.
"You don't own her Jake,soon you'll own nothing here. "
"Get out, "this time it's Erick who spoke up.
"I'm Jax, sweet Mira,"he said directing his words to me. I heard Jake growl and then Jax left with a smirk plastered on his face.

And that's how I met him.
