Shiki's POV
There was also something familiar about you, something comfortable.

Like a fond memory from my childhood.

But that was impossible, We'd never even met before. Not even spoken.

I would just look at you from across the hall, and feel that sweet nostalgia wash over me like honey.
Like we were connected somehow.

I heard you sigh, tapping your pencil against the desk. We both sat in detention, for different reasons obviously.

I had fallen asleep in class one too many times, while you were here for a more noble reason.
It was your third week in detention, all because you stood up to a creepy teacher, one who had been watching girls. You caught him staring, and you went right up and broke his nose.

The school board gave you 5 weeks of detention, but in my eyes(and the entire's schools), you became a hero.

I scribble in my notebook, watching you out of the corner of my eye. You sat on the other side of the room, your head always straight forward.

You didn't even look at me.

Mr. Connor scribbled both our names on his whiteboard, twirling his thick mustache and sitting in his chair.

I wish I could muster up the courage to talk to you, tell you how much I admire you. But it's not like you knew me.
It's not as if we'd been anything to each other.

But, you were always something to me.

You were a role model, the girl who had it all.

Praise, love, attention, and a hot boyfriend.

You were the schools hero, at least until Mr. Drakken returned from his medical leave last week and accused you of trying to sleep with him for a better grade in his class.

It all went down hill from there. You began to fail his class even though you had always had high grades, and no one would listen to you when you said he was doing it to get back at you.
They all believed him.

You lost your 'best friend' after finding her in bed with your boyfriend, all of your other friends taking Labilia's side, calling you a sellout and a fake.

No, none of this was the way it was supposed to go.

You weren't suppose to become depressed and sad, all alone in the world with no one to turn to.
Your friends and boyfriend, your squeaky clean reputation, your marvelous grades, all gone in an instant.

It hurt to watch your life collapse, even though I had no idea why.
Like I said before, it was only a feeling, but a strong one. I felt like I knew you, maybe in a previous life.

I looked up at the board, reading your name over and over again.
I said your name under my breath.
"Rebecca Bluegarden."

I sighed and turned my eyes to you one last time.

And there I met you. I met your brilliant blue eyes staring back at me.

The look on your face showed shock and remembrance.
Your eyes began to shine, like you felt the same way I did. It felt like we'd been connected somehow, the universe tying us together with a faded red string.

I smiled, your face contorting in confusion as that same nostalgia hit you.
You looked to the board, and then back at me. mouthing my name with a raised eyebrow.
"Shiki Granbell?" She whispered, tilting her head to the side.

The way my name felt on her lips hit me like Cupid's arrow to my heart, but I only nodded.
"Yes."
