"Connor!" I screamed again, taking in yet another gulp of salt water. "Connor!" I couldn't see, breathe or swim any longer. I needed my boyfriend - where was he? He was my best friend, my rock, my life. He better be okay.
I took yet another stroke in the icy coldness of the water. My arms and legs ached, and I couldn't feel my feet. I'd been swimming for what, two days now? There was still no sight of land.
I felt something sharp grab hold of my leg and yank me underwater. I began to panic; I couldn't breathe, and I was too exhausted to put up any kind of fight. That's when I noticed that the water around me was red - blood red. I tried to scream - big mistake. I inhaled a load of water, and began to feel it clogging up my throat, my lungs, I couldn't breathe... What type of creature could survive so long down here?
And then I realized. I stared down at the horrible nightmare of an animal which was a great white, and attempted to swim away, but I couldn't. There just wasn't enough air. I tried calling my boyfriend's name once again, but just breathed in more of the sickly water. I tried to escape, my heart racing, my hair floating helplessly infront of my eyes. I couldn't see. My eyes stung like a bee sting, no, one million bee stings. Then I felt a hand, a familiar hand, pulling me up from the depths of the unknown.
"Chloe! Chloe! Wake up!" I sat up immediately, panting. "It's okay, it was just a dream." Everyone was surrounding me like I was in hospital.
"W-what happened?" I stammered, brushing my hair from my face.
"I think you were having a nightmare love - you were screaming and kicking and punching the air - you've got quite a good hit to be honest babe." I peered around me, still expecting to see a shark attacking me. I checked my leg to see if there were any bite marks - nothing.
"What on earth are you doing," Connor giggled, kissing my hand delicately.
"Checking for shark bites," Connor laughed once again, laying back down onto the sand with me and draping his arm loosely around my waist. It was still dark, and so everyone went back to their positions and fell back asleep almost immediately - except Con.
"Chloe, what was that dream about?"
"Um, I'm not sure really. A shark - I was lost in the sea alone, and I got eaten." Connor pulled me closer and started fiddling with my hair.
"Alone? You'll never be alone, Chloe. I'll always be by your side - always." Straight after that, Connor fell into a deep sleep, his hot breath tickling my neck. Over in the distance, I could see the sun beginning to rise, and so I lay awake to watch it. This was actually quite relaxing; watching the sun come up with my boyfriend cuddling me, and my friends surrounding me. I stared at the sun, wondering whether Nazmin could see it too.
