A Visit To Magdalene

Life has been so complicated for me ever since my Mom had died, it such a bad experience that I had to go through such trauma at a young age, well I was eight when she died. My Dad had to remarry just 'cause he couldn't give me the attention I needed also for me to forget about her which I can't possible forget. Even before my Mom died she gave me her diary saying I should read it when I turn twenty that was her last words before she gave up the ghost, and now I'll be turning 20 in few days time also it's my last year at school.

I'm a regular late comer at school all thanks to my step mother even though she has her own daughter Kayla but still treat me like a slave, yeah my life sucks no one to help not even my sick father, he has been on the bed for a year now.

I walked to my class and as usual a teacher would be in the class not without scolding me.
Miss Michelle your habit of coming late everyday is not a good impression even though you are intelligent, "Mr Dalton said in disappointment"
I could not reply, I just bend my head low and went to my seat.

After about ten minutes the bell sounded as Mr Dalton walked out of the class.

Hey "Jessica called" she's my seat mate
Hi i replied lowly trying to avoid any question she may ask like is there anything you hiding? Or is there something going on? If so, try sharing it to me I'm not just your seat mate but also your friend.

So what are your plans tomorrow "she asked with a smirk"
Well nothing simply stay at home and rest "I replied her truthfully, before she could say anything our history teacher came in immediately, narrow escape from her question "I sighed in relief "

Today we will be talking about MAGDALENE, Mrs Jason said as she write it boldly on the board, students were murmuring which was causing noise as Mrs Jason cut them off by saying it An ancient house owned by the Magdalene family, the house was constructed by a great architect also it is located in the Magdalene town originated from it name. People do go there to find answers to any unsolved problem.
The teaching went on and on as I pondered about that word "find answer to unsolved problem", why do I feel concerned about this topic but well I just have to wave it off it not like all this history stuff still exist but may exist then, nah not anymore "I thought shaking my head"
Why shaking your head "Jessica asked"
Huh, I said and raise my brow up realizing I was still in class.
I think I'm not the only one who find this topic creepy "she said glancing around as I trace my eyes to the spot she was looking at and there I found Benjamin, he's a weakling and it shows in his face he's scared as f**k.

After a lot of explanation the bell rang as she dash out of the class.
I got up from my seat so also did Jessica as we walked side by side to the cafeteria.
So you mean you are not participating in the Halloween " she asked"
I stop on my track as I looked at her and scoff, like I said I'm going nowhere so about Halloween it a no no "I replied strictly" not that I don't wish to go but my step mother and Kayla would not spare me time.
Cmon' it not like you are going to sleep there and moreover the school is organising a party for the celebration "she stated trying to convince me"
No, I can't be present "I replied and walked fully into the cafeteria as I place my order, one coffee and one hamburger, make it two also the hamburger Jessica said to the attendant. We got our order as we went over to sit on an empty seat.
I was still munching on my hamburger when Jessica broke the silence
" think about it and if you change your mind let me know"
I only nodded with hamburger in my mouth 'cause I could not keep up the discussion so I just have to submit to her rants.

School throughout was not fun as the bell got rung I took my bag while I waved bye to Jessica before going  home. I walked the sullen road of Hikes, which is the area I live, I got home and met no one in particular as I did my little laundry and made way to the kitchen to prepare dinner before Mrs Sarah and Kayla comes back since they are out of town.
I glance at the time and it was past 6 they should be here soon I mutter while cooking.
After 1hour of cooking it was 7pm and by 8pm they did be at home, I left the kitchen to check on my sick father as I walked up the stairs to his room but  stopped half way when I heard noise in the kitchen, I thought it was just imagination as I continue the stairs but this time around I heard it clearly that I could not help but go and check the kitchen. I tiptoe to the kitchen as I got there I found our cat sparkle there but something else got my attention the gas cooker was turned on, or did I not on it I soliloquy as I switched it off, I bent down and carried sparkle as I turned to go but stopped when I heard whistle accompanied with breeze also making the window to open on it own, I was scared to the bone as I saw the breeze getting so dense, the door knob was twisting like someone trying to open the door as I hugged the poor little cat, I tried moving to the door when it opened but no one came in for some seconds that my heartbeat got increased, unfortunately it was Mrs Sarah and Kayla who was still in her uniform.
Why sweating Mrs Sarah asked looking at me in a strange way.
I was, I mean I just came out of the kitchen after cooking "I replied as I swallowed the saliva that formed in my mouth"
Why do I feel you are lying also what's sparkle doing in your hand "Kayla stated not without eyeing me"
Anyway I don't have your time right now, I and Kayla will be out of town to see a relative so we are not spending the night at home also the doctor in charge of your fathers health will be here tomorrow 2pm to check up on him "Mrs Sarah instructed me before going upstairs with her daughter"

I breathed in and out, gosh I got scared for no reason but I don't feel settle and me staying alone at home tomorrow baffles me after experiencing this little drama "I drop the cat on the floor as I went to serve the dishes on the dinning table, still thanking my stars she didn't  punish me.
