A Woman Through The Decades

Isn't a woman's heart ever so colorful?
It is painted proudly in purple, green and white
While her voice burns so eloquently like a firework waiting to ignite.
From that precise look, you'd know she would never give up this fight.

A woman's heart is filled with compassion,
She nurtures, cares and loves with passion.
A beauty you'd never see from anywhere else.
She is your mother, sister, aunt, friend and —myself.

Her heart can plant a life, that brings our future
She owns the mind of Athena's creature
You can be mesmerized by her eyes, that hold stories she'll never tell.
She bares this intelligence that simply can't compare.
Perhaps, that is why we celebrate our women, in purple, green and white.
For she represents, justice, hope and dignity in all her might.

But, why is it only now that we do?
Why is it that only today, women are finally coming through?
If we bring the future, and carry intelligence.
How were we only given a voice that didn't come so soon?

Why did our hearts have to ache first before calming down?
Or are we still fighting for the crown?
Like we did for our suffrage, when the men expected us to just sit and frown.
Do you not love your women?
The mothers who left their mark

Why must our hearts still be frightened in the dark,
Why can't we walk alone?
When can we stop following the patriarch?
Women are really tired, I'm sure they are
For having to hide the bruises on their skin
From the many years, they've been abused,
will we ever win?

The answer is simple, yes we will.
And we will celebrate with the flowers in our hair
Dressed in all colors without a care
Because we are defined by nobody
We will shine as bright as diamonds nightly
Because hand in hand together we are in unity

So do not underestimate the power of a woman
For Her stories reveals tales of Imperfect beauty
While holding the soul of a goddess who has won
Battles and battles after end
So before you convince me that I'm any less,
I come from a history fighters, my friend
