Jackson POV

*bang*

Mortars. Mother fucking mortars where raining down on us. From where I was standing I had a perfect view of the horror they wreak on my squad. Gunner, age 25, has a wife and daughter back in Kentucky. He was our squads best when it comes to full out firefighter died right there in a ruined house that wasn't his own. The shrapnel tore his body apart...the only identification we had on him after the attack was a dented dog tag.

Mason, age 21, joined the Marines to prove his ex-girlfriend that he's not a mess. He was the youngest in our group...he barely survived his first and only tour in Afghanistan. He was our translator, seeing as he was one of few who could speak their language. A shared of the mortar shell dug itself deep into his spinal cord. He ended up Paralyzed from his waist down permanently, hell he can barely even move his arms and hands now.

The ther was also Daniel. He was 44 years old, he's been in Afghanistan since he finished his training at 24. He was the oldest in our group and the most experienced, and all it took was one idiot with a bomb to blow off his legs. Those were the only ones who got the worst of the attack. The others were scrambling for cover while the rest dragged the wounded away.

"Dammit! Where in the world did those assholes get their hands on bloody mortars. Jackson, get your ass to cover soldier! Hay you hear me! I said get to cover..." he screamed at me but my attention was on something more important. I sprint to my right and grabbed Gunner's LMG and grabbed Mason so I could get him to safety. Some of the others gave me cover fire in the process.

I left him with the closest medic and rushed straight into battle, but before I could Mason grabbed my arm with on hand and saluted me with what strength he had left in his hands. His index finger and middle out straight(sid by sid), his thumb stretched out to the side and his ring and pinky folded in words, mostly because he was slowly losing his control as the shrapnel kept damaging his spinal cord. I saluted him back and rushed to trying and cross the gap between our side and there's. "Jack! You get your ass back here, son! You hear me! He-hay, hey!"

Narrator's POV

"He-hey, hey! Congratulations on the new Night Watch job!" said a voice. Thanks to it, it brought Jackson back to reality. He looked at the time, it was only 47 minutes before midnight. He looked around for the source of it.

It was a voice recording from the phone. Jack relaxes as he listens further to the message. "I actually worked at that place before you, crazy huh? Just finishing my last few days in fact. Anyway, I'm recording this message to help you get settled in on your first night. I know it can get quite overwhelming there, but you'll be fine! Things do tend to get a little "weird" at night sometimes, but there's nothing to worry about," he said. At those words Jack zips his duffle bag open and removed his 9mm. He he ejected the mag to make sure it's loaded. "I hope I don't need to use this. We'll at least my rubber Bullets won't kill some, if I aim at the right spot that is," he thought to himself.

"The animatronics can get up to a bit of mischief at night, so be aware that the girls do tend to explore the place," he continued. Upon hearing this Jack slides the mag back in and looked at the phone confused.
"Da'fuck you mean by that!" he yelled.
"They are put into some sort of "Night Mode", so they are limbered up for the shows in the day time... something like that," he tried to explain. Jack pulled back on the 9mm, loading the first shot just in case. He loosens his belt so that he can attach his gun holster to the his side. Jackson continues to listen as he does this.
