The door finally swung open to reveal the celebrity inside, to begin with only his polished shoe was visible, a thin laced shoe with minimal patterns. I awaited their grand entrance which wasn't as grand as I'd imagined. His feet came first, wheeling round as he stumbled forward into the bright strobe lighting of the stage, I had to fight back my laughter, the pained expression on his face and squinting eyes suggested that someone had pushed him forward. However, in a split second his confused grimace had merged into a smooth smile and his scared eyes had opened to reveal chocolate brown pupils. His windswept hair was greased back over his head and trailed in waves down past his ears. His suit was the standard issue, black tie and blindingly white shirt. Striding across the stage he surveyed the crowd, quite obviously looking for his top contender already. I stared in shock of his immaculate figure as he stopped beside Rachel, he was already quite a bit taller than her and by the looks of him wasn't very old. She smiled, wrapping an almost protective arm round his back and pulling him in closer to the microphone. "Hello Bachelor number one, how are you doing?" she asked, shoving the mic up at his face. He blinked away his surprise at her sudden question and used a slender finger to rearrange the microphone at a suitable length from his face. "I'm feeling great Rachel, thanks." He smiled, pulling back his thin lips into a purple line and exposing a row of neat teeth. "Now Number 1, could you introduce yourself and provide us with your initial thoughts." Rachel handed him her mic and he took it willingly, striding to the front of the stage and gazing out across the sea of girls. "Hey, my names Finn, I'm quite young for this show but you can't say no right?" He chuckled to himself before staring back up at a camera drone. "I guess all you viewers want to know who has already caught my eye. Well, I can't leave you empty handed, can I?" Another rhetorical, was this dude seriously trying to sell himself with rhetorics? I thought. "Ok, then. This girl right here." His arm outstretched to a girl in the strong category and a bright spotlight highlighted her to the audience. As soon as it did Rachel reappeared by Finn's side and lead him back to his place. "Thank you for that Finn and for those of you at home, Finn's current top contester is..." The drone pulled away from her and shone into the smiling face of the girl who had been selected, "Oh and that right there is Millie Evens, a broad farm girl from Oklahoma." From what I could see, Millie was a slim, dark haired girl with a dark scattering of freckles. Returning to Rachel I watched the camera drone float away and the girl's spotlight disappear. "Ok, I think its time we bought out the next Celebrity."
Once again, the door began to open but this time the celeb behind it was much more composed yet even more nervous than Finn had first looked. He dragged his feet slightly and struggled to find his place amongst all the bright lights. His curls of mud coloured hair jumped wildly in all directions and his almost black eyes were wide and shining. However, his face was more ragged and human than Finn's had been, with bits of hair that he'd missed when shaving and a few barely noticeable blemishes across his cheeks.
Rachel swarmed him like a mosquito. Her arm outstretched towards him and he smiled wearily at her, he seemed more relaxed now that she was there, and I wondered if he knew her from his life of stardom. "You know the drill Bachelor number two; we'll have an introduction and a favourite please." He took the microphone and began to speak into it although no sound came out and he appeared to be mouthing the words. Taking a moment to fumble with the mic Rachel started forward but stopped when a loud click echoed. "Hello everyone, can you hear me now?" He asked and I rolled my eyes, we we're getting another celebrity speech and were likely to get three more. "Alright I'll try and keep it brief..." he chuckled which suddenly caught my attention, Was he watching when I rolled my eyes? I thought but shrugged it off when I realised, he was looking somewhere else. "My names Jack, Jack Grazer for those of you who don't already know that..." I rolled my eyes again, he was making it much longer than I was willing to wait, my legs were already starting to ache, and my stomach was growling like a tiger. "Alright, alright, I'll hurry up..." That was another reference to me, I was sure of it and because of it I found myself intently examining him as he spoke. His suit was much looser than Finn's and swung out a little round his hips, he was wearing a silver ring on his left hand and around his neck was a chain of some sort. "As I said I'm Jack, I'm also quite young and..." he tapped the side of his head with jiggered fingernail, "Who catches my eye is for me to know and you to wonder." I found myself laughing and Emily grabbed my sleeve, "What are you laughing at?" she questioned, and I pointed up to him, still giddy from thinking that he'd actually noticed me. "What you didn't find him funny?" She shook her head before folding her arms and turning back to the front. At that point I did the same trying hard to conceal the blush that was seeping into my cheeks. Yet when I looked back up at the stage my heart stopped for a few beats because he was looking at me, smiling, a hearty natural smile and then he waved, and I felt my cheeks burn with the violence of lava. Even though there was no way to be sure that he was looking at me I felt like he was and for the first time since receiving yesterdays letter felt hope filling my body.
