Chapter 4;  Kang Chaewon

-

Chatter, food, and the clinking of shoes on the dancefloor. Bright chandeliers and countless bottled fairies hanging from the threads on the sealing.

It was upsetting, the number of people that showed up. Not because they weren't enough, but because they were too many.

There were guards surrounding the palace while Namjoon and Hoseok fit in with the crowd, remaining alert in case someone shady approached the Royals. Hyuk was tracing Yoongi's steps, as always, and both he and his father were showered with protection spells from Seokjin before arriving. It would be the first time they showed their face in public since the passing of the Queen, after all.

Yoongi had a dark grey, silk robe on, it had golden detailing along the neck and some red ones along the sleeves. His hair had a couple of small braids, tied with silky black ribbons. His father was against his current hairstyle, but he thought that if Seunggi was already choosing his spouse, he could at least choose his own appearance. He held his head up high as he walked down the hall. Suddenly, everyone was quiet as he went to sit beside his father in his own smaller, yet majestic throne.

Once he sat down, the chatter resumed, and the music continued. To say he was bored was a complete understatement. He had refused to interact with anyone that approached him, even his friend Jungkook, the Prince of Light. They were complete opposites. Every woman would swoon over Jungkook, he was charming, kind, good looking. He had it all.

What no one knew, was that he, too, was homosexual.

He and Yoongi were each other's first love, but they had to end things after Yoongi's father found out and banned them from seeing each other ever again. He was 17 at the time, making Jungkook a mere 15 years old. It was hard, letting go, but they remained friends through the chaos. Now it was the first time they saw each other since, but Yoongi couldn't care less. He was too engraved in the idea of having to choose a spouse that he almost didn't notice Jungkook's friend.

He was tall, just like Jungkook, he had blond hair, and was wearing a golden colored suit. He looked to be quite charming, and he claimed to be Jungkook's friend, his guardian, his witch, but Yoongi knew their relationship was different than that of his and Hyuk's.

He hoped Jungkook and Taehyung would be happy.

Honestly, Yoongi was jealous. Not because he still had feelings for Jungkook, but because he was older than them, yet he had never found a love like that. Someone who stuck.

But, then again, there were only two sides to this word. Happiness or woe. And for Yoongi, woe was him.

"Yoongi, I'd like you to meet Kang Chaewon," Seunggi said in his deep voice, putting his hand on Yoongi's shoulder, motioning him to stand up.

"H-Hello," Said the girl. She was very beautiful. She had long, dark hair that matched her sharp, brown eyes. She had a headpiece that resembled a flower, and a flowy pink dress.

"Good evening, Miss Kang," Yoongi said politely, and his father smiled.

"See? You already hit it off! Go on, son. Show her around. Hyuk can go with you as well," The King said, and the girl blushed upon his words.

He nodded before walking forward. She seemed confused, so Hyuk just told her not to worry, that he was just a bit distant and didn't like hand-holding much. She nodded before following his to the flower maze at the back of the palace.

"Hyuk."

"Yes, Your Majesty?"

"Could you wait near the benches? I'd like to talk with Miss Kang," Yoongi said quietly.

"Of course, Sir," Hyuk said, before turning away.

"Oh, please, call me Chae–" The girl said, blushing, but being cut off mid-sentence by the push of Yoongi's lips to hers.

It was rushed, and not at all enjoyable, but Yoongi was trying to get used to the idea. The girl seemed to be into it, at least.

Finally, they broke apart.

"Th-That was... Amazing," The girl said, her slim fingers running up to touch against her bottom lip. Yoongi didn't get it.

"Sure," He said bluntly, making her giggle.

"Um. Yoongi– if I can call you that, I really think we have a connection and–" Suddenly, there was a crash, like the breaking of glass from above. They whipped their heads upwards, toward Yoongi's bedroom window, and he noticed the crystal sphere that had been on the sill of his window since he was 15 was gone. He couldn't help but panic, sweat building on his temple as his eyebrows knit together in worry.

"What was I saying? Ah yes, I think w-we have a connection and–"

"I'm sorry, Miss Kang but I uh– I have to go," Yoongi stuttered out, still looking at his window, shell-shocked.

Next thing Chaewon knew, the handsome dark prince had scurried off into the darkness, with the guard that was waiting for him tracing right behind.

By the time Yoongi climbed up enough stairs to get to his room, it was five minutes later and he was sweaty, with half of his robe hanging off his shoulder. He was panting as Hyuk ran behind him.

"Prince... Wha-what's wrong?" Hyuk said, out of breath as well.

"Stay here," Was the only response Yoongi gave the man as he cracked open the big wooden door of his room.

When it opened, he was surprised to see a dim light coming from near the window, on the floor, but his tall bed was blocking the source. Had his flower died? Was there too much wind outside, therefore the jar fell? So many questions were flooding his mind about how the flower was the only thing he had left, how he couldn't lose it, and what would happen if he did, that he was absolutely shocked at the sight in front of him because,

"Why the fuck is there a guy in my room?"
