Jack
I’m at work, I love this job, I love the kids, it may be stressful at times, but seeing these kids smile makes it well worth it, so I love this job.
I go up to a little boy, his name is also Jack, and he has taken a shine to me because of that, he has blue eyes, blond hair, naturally pink cheeks, he is going to be a handsome young man when he grows up, but for now, he’s fallen off his bike, his arm is in a pot and his head is in a bandage.
“Now then young man, how are you doing?”
“A little itchy.”
“You always itch where you can’t reach,” I pass him a spoon, “Here you go that should work. Allow me to demonstrate.” I push the spoon in and out of his pot, “Has that helped?”
“Yeah,” He giggles, “It tickles.”
“Where’s your Mum?”
“She went to work.”
Her little boy is in the hospital and she’s gone into work, some people are so fucking heartless, well I should give her some credit, at least she brought him some books and toys.
“Alright buddy, I just want to take your obs.”
“I don’t like it when you do that.”
“I know buddy, but it needs to be done, so I know if there is something wrong with you.”
“Oh alright.”
After doing his obs, I notice that his temperature is up, and his pupils are fixed.
“Alright buddy, I will be right back.”
I go and find someone senior because I am concerned with my findings, I find Doctor Melissa Monroe, she has brown hair, cool grey eyes, thin upturned lips, and a triangle jawline, she’s thirty-two.
“Doctor Monroe.”
She turns to me with a smile, “Yes, Jack.”
“Jack Mason, I’m concerned about his temperature and his pupils are fixed.”
“Alright, I will have a look,” She goes to examine him, “Hello little man, my name is Melissa, I’m just going to take a little look at you.”
She examines him herself, “You’re right, trust your instincts. Because you’re doing a good job, book him in for another head CT, it could be a bleed or bruising on the brain.
“Alright will do.”
“Make the head CT a matter of urgency, try and call his Mother, call me if you have any more concerns.”
She then walks away, “Wow she was hot.” Jack muses.
“You’re too young to notice women,” I laugh.
I go and book him in for another head CT and carry on with the rest of my duties.
When I get back to Jack, he seems to be worse, “Alright buddy?”
