After All These Years (Malleus Draconia x Reader)

"How many years has it been?" Lilia asked the younger fae who blankly stared back at him.

"Nearly two centuries."

It has been nearly two hundred years ever since the two graduated from Night Raven College. It has been more than a century since the black-haired male finally became king of the faeries. It too has been a long time ever since Sebek became an official guard.

And it has been a long time ever since (Y/N) (L/N) passed away.

"Two reincarnated lives of her have passed." The former ruler walked towards the current king, his lips pursed in a straight line. "Even so, the outcome was the same."

"No matter how many attempts I have to make," the black-haired male clenched his fist. "I will save her."

"You can't save her from her fate."

"I have already casted the spell-"

"Precisely why it has to be undone." Lilia gave Malleus a stern look, silencing him. The red-eyed male, however, did not stop there and continued to disapprove of the other's decision.

"Not only are you inflicting more pain on (Y/N) by making her die again and again by that reincarnation spell. You are also torturing yourself by clinging onto that false hope of thinking that you can change the impossible."

A sigh escaped the ancient being's lips before turning on his heel to leave the room. However, before doing so, he turned back to the green-eyed male.

"Let the young girl's soul rest."

With that, the door was closed shut.

"If someone from another world managed to come to Twisted Wonderland, then isn't something like this possible?" Malleus tried to convince himself, but Lilia's words kept echoing in his mind.

That human, that human who came to the academy years ago was very peculiar. Everything about her contrasted from the environment and the people in it. From her inability to use magic, her personality, and even her own gender.

And somehow, the two opposites fell in love.

Extremely short lifespans humans have. However, her life was taken too early when she fell into a sickness with not a cure in Twisted Wonderland.

The black-haired male searched for a cure ever since and casted a reincarnation spell
that somewhat revives his first love every sixty years. Although she looked different with a new body every time, he knew it was her, for he can sense his magic in the girl.

He did not spare any effort, but even so, there were no signs of success. Then, the one he loves so much dies the same way again.

Wasn't he being just as cruel as her fate?

The horrible memory of his human sitting on the bed so weak and feeble resurfaced into the fae's mind. It came to taunt him once again, yet at the same time, this made him give Lilia's words some consideration.

It's for the best, isn't it? Malleus gritted his teeth, but set out to follow the red-eyed male's guidance.

How can someone just take their lover's life? Well, how can he just put her to eternal suffering?

This was the only way to revoke it which also served as his punishment.

This was the third reincarnation and in this life, (Y/N) has brown hair with her eyes of the same color in contrast to her original appearance. In addition to that, she became a subject in the Valley of Thorns, so unlike the first time she met Malleus, she knew who he was.

This made it easier for the green-eyed male in terms of time, so he managed to be in the brunette's home later that night.

A weak cough caught the green-eyed male's attention as he turned to the door to see the brown-haired girl staring at him in surprise.

"Y-Your Highness!" (Y/N) exclaimed, but then greeted him with a curtsy when she remembered who she was speaking to.

Albeit hesitant, the brunette lifted her head to meet the male in the eye. "What brings you to my humble home, Your Majesty?"

Malleus could barely surpress how much he wanted to take her into his arms and run his fingers through her soft locks. He wanted nothing more than to be in her company as they pass the time talking about anything that crossed their minds.

Goodness, even after all these years, she still has the same effect on him.

"Is there something wrong?" (Y/N) stared at the taller man, her wide doe eyes expressing concern.

Alas, this must be put to an end for both of their sakes.

With a trembling hand, Malleus' eyes glowed a brighter shade of green and reached out his palm.

The pained expression on the girl's face as he absorbed her life force was agonizing for the black-haired male to watch. Even more so when he was the cause.

No matter how much it hurt her, she could not even open her mouth to scream. All she could do, all they could do, was endure and wait until everything is over.

Once the spell was undone, the brown-haired girl's body dissolved into its original form.

It dreaded him to see it, for it was nothing more than her bones as a sick reminder of reality.

Nevertheless, the torturous cycle was finally put to an end.
