She still remembers the day when it all started, the day when she became an adult. Her red locks and green eyes shined brighter than ever. She thought that she finally found her " independent self" but was broken when she came to know about her family curse. Every night her disappearance since her 18th birthday made him curious to know her whereabouts. She barely even entered apartment when she heard him.
"Where were you?", Chris came out of the kitchen looking at her suspiciously.
"Out?", she replied grimly hanging her coat on the stand.
"You do realize that 'OUT' doesn't make sense anymore. You have been going 'OUT' ever since you have turned 18, for every night, since last 2 years. I mean, the only time I have seen you is either at our college or during the lunch. I don't even understand you nowadays, if you are already having a place to sleep then why are you even staying here? I mean, all do you is eat breakfast, leave for college then you come back home for dinner and then disappear again. You know that this is an apartment not an eatery, right?"
"Geez, enough already...", she rolled her eyes already irritated by the interrogation and threw herself on the couch.
"NO. Not today. I need the answers to my questions right now. I am sick of these secrets that you have been keeping from me since last 2 years, Now no more secrets. We have known each other since past 8 years and I trust you with my life. I don't even understand what is it so important to you that you can't even tell me."
She sighed. Not understanding how to explain her situation without the fear of losing him. This interrogation has been everyday thing for her.
She replied," I just need time and – "
"IS TWO YEARS NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU?", She was startled by this kind of reaction from him. He dashed out of the living room and locked himself in his room.
This was probably the first time that he has ever raised his voice. She did understand though. She knew that he was just concerned for her. He has always been there for a long time no matter what the situation was, even before she discovered her family curse. He moved to a completely different city with her so that they could attend college together.
She thought that if he got to know the truth, he couldn't keep it to himself. She knew for a fact that if Chris comes to know the truth about her and her family, he would probably leave.
After sometime, His room's door creaked open, Chris steps out with his pastel pink trolley bag in his hand and heads towards the door.
"Where are you going?" she asked, hoping that he won't say what she was afraid of.
"I'm leaving. I'm so done with you keeping secrets from me. I'm moving out. I'm moving in with Dylan."
"Why? I understand that you are concerned for me but I promise you that I am not doing anything bad. Please don't leave. ", she said with her eyes brimming with tears.
"I am just tired living with a liar. I told you everything about myself, even though it was so hard. I came out of closet. My parents don't even know that I'm gay but, I told you and that is exactly how much I trust you, and the fact that you are hiding things from me is making me feel even more miserable, that you don't even trust me and it makes me feel vulnerable that you know everything about me and I know nothing. I gave you space for two freaking years hoping that you would come around but I guess you never trusted me and I can't live like this anymore.", He said with a teary eyes.
"But I do trust you. It is just that you won't understand what I am going through", her voice was shaking.
"Make me understand. I'm ready to listen to everything you have to say. I have been your best friend for eight long years and I think it's my right to know. Just tell me. I will not leave if you would just tell me what is going on with you because I stay up all night hoping for you to come but the fact is that you won't come back and it just seems pointless because I don't understand what is going on with you. I cannot maintain such kind of a friendship when there is no trust."
