TF2 The Borrower

Part 4

Spy stood next to Jeremy in the Respawn room. Engineer had stayed true to his word and had pulled an all nighter to finish the shrink ray, and brought the Scout back to normal size. The only problem was that Engineer was exhausted so he wasn't participating in the battle today. Even without the full team, Spy was confident in his abilities. He just needed to get into the Blu Medical Bay and search for little people. But he had gone in there before within the seven years that Blu Medic apparently had these little people, and he had never found anything before. What were the chances of finding something now?

Spy turned to the rest of the team. "You know the plan. Try to make the match last as long as possible and don't let the Blu's win!" Everyone cheered as the Administrator began the countdown. As soon as the Respawn door opened, Jeremy ran out with Spy following close behind.

The whole Red team set to work with their respective jobs, creating as much of a diversion as they could. That gave Spy the opportunity to sneak into the Blu base. Instead of heading for the room with the intelligence, he ran toward the Medical Bay. Once he got there he tried to open the door, but it was locked. I don't have time for this! Spy began to lockpick the door. As he did he started hearing footsteps. Someone was gonna pass the hallway soon. Worried, Spy tried a little harder. This only caused him to break the bobby pin.

Spy quickly pulled out another and tried again. This time he managed to unlock the door, but the loud click made him tense up. The footsteps had stopped too. Then they started beating the ground like someone was running. Spy quickly ran into the Medical Bay and locked the door. He leaned against the wall to the side of the door and cloaked, just in case.

The face of Blu Sniper, looked into the window of the door not long after Spy had cloaked. The Sniper tried the door, but grunted in annoyance when he found it locked. The man said nothing, but when he looked away he bent down and came back up with the broken bobby pin. Spy cursed himself for leaving evidence behind, but the Sniper left soon after. Spy didn't feel relieved. He knew it was only a matter of time before the Blu Medic was informed. He had to work fast.

Spy started looking through the files of experiments the Medic had done in the last seven years. He came across a folder that had little people crossed out and replaced with Borrowers in German. Spy smiled, Medic's just can't live without documenting their findings. After all, who would know what they did if it wasn't documented? The file wasn't very thick, surprisingly. It was the notebook connected to the folder that held the majority of what happened to the little Borrowers. Without enough time to view it, Spy tucked it under an arm and continued his search. Finding nothing in the Medical Bay, Spy turned to the 1 place he never bothered looking since the time he had got caught nine years ago, and put in the Blu Medic's fridge as a head while his counterpart was put in the Red Medic's fridge as a head. After a while both team's had agreed to give up the Spy head's and never do it again, but the memory still haunted Red Spy. The room was Blu Medic's.

Just as he was about to go into the room, despite the fear, a pain shot up Spy's back and he fell to the floor paralized. He did hear someone say, "tut tut" Blu Medic had arrived. "It sure has been a long time since jou Red's have broken into my Medical Bay. About a month now. But zen jou had a reason. I had just enhanced Heavy vith ze strength of a bear und jou all vere vondering vhy he vasn't dying like he used to. Of course jou all teamed up on him out of ze gate later, sending him zhough Respawn und undoing all my vork. But now... Zhere's none of zat. Vat could possibly..." The Blu Medic spotted the file. "Vat's zis?" He picks it off the ground. "Now vat vould jou vant vith zis? How do jou even know about zis? Not even ze Administrator knows about zis since it has nothing to do vith ze team..." The Medic stood there contemplating, while all Spy could do was lie there.

"Hm... Vell, how about I indulge jou. I haven't been able to share my discoveries vith anyvon since ve found zem." The Blu Medic opened the door to his room and dragged Spy into it with him. Once inside Spy could clearly see an empty fish tank on a desk. The only light in the room was coming from this tank. The Medic lifted Spy by his hair and mask, giving the man a good look into the tank. Spy's eyes went wide.
