"Where the hell is she?" Katya said under her breath. She had been waiting in the motel lobby for over an hour. It was almost curfew and her sister, Elizabeth, still hadn't returned from her trade she set up with one of her customers.
"It's bad enough she's making me wait, but she couldn't even send a message to let me know where she was? Rude." Katya had a bad habit of talking to herself when she was alone. She had been mumbling under her breath when someone touched her shoulder.
"Ma'am?" The man said.
She jumped and sat up straight, brushing his hand off her shoulder. "Yes, sir?"
"It's Midnight. It's past curfew and I'm going to have to ask you to return to your room."
She stiffened. Did she seriously just waste an hour sitting her talking to herself? Wow, what a nerd.
Her sister, still, was not here.
"I'm waiting for somebody."
"You can wait in you room. If they ask for a girl with short hair and green eyes, I'll tell them where your room is." He promised.
Katya sighed. "Fine, I'm sorry for wasting your time." She got up to leave. "Oh, and if she does ask for me, tell her she can sleep outside my door. She came back too late."
"Yes, ma'am." The polite man said.
She walked up the stairs to the room her sister and her were staying.
"I can't believe this." She mumbled and she dug for the key to room 105A in her pocket and pushed it into the keyhole. "What in the hell could she be doing this late?" She opened the door and walked in.
She put her small dagger she always kept with her on the desk and closed the door.
Feeling exhausted, she took off her combat boots and scrolled through her "ITEMS" list before choosing a cheap T-Shirt and some shorts she found at a retail shop. She clicked on them and was changed in virtually no time.
Katya stumbled to her bed and collapsed onto the comforter. Who knew something that wasn't actually there could be so soft and fluffy? She drifted off into unconsciousness.
As sunlight slipped through the curtains, Katya pulled the covers up over her head.
"Hey, Eliz, go close those, please?" She said sleepily.
No reply.
"Eliz." She said again.
And once again, no reply.
Surely she still hasn't come back? She thought.
She sat up in the bed and looked around. No one.
"Maybe she actually slept outside my door? What a dork." She streached and climbed out of bed.
Making her way to the desk area to grab her dagger, someone knocked on her door.
"Just a minute!" She quickly grabbed her weapon and clicked on her outfit during the day- a long red cloak, a white long-sleeved shirt and a red combat skirt. Slipping on her boots, she ran to open the door.
"It took you long enou-" She stopped talking when she say who was at her door. "-Oh." The motel owner.
"Hello, good-morning miss. I came by to tell you that your friend did not end up coming here." He told Katya. Her heart sank.
"I see," She replied, crestfallen. There was obviously nothing else to say so she looked at the ground awkwardly. "Sorry." She said.
"It's quite alright miss," He said cheerfully. "I'm sure she'll come around. Until then I'll keep an eye out for you. What does she look like?" He asked.
