(Y/N) twisted her hair around her slender fingers in thought. "Few men escape from this unforgiving place..." she lightly bit her lip in thought. Where in the world could there possibly be a place like that? She began to pace back and forth, mumbling to herself and rummaging through her brain for any sort of fact or clue that would help them along their journey.
Gibbs leaned against a nearby post, as if the simple action would be able to help him think of the answer. To (Y/N) it seemed as though he wasn't trying at all, slightly infuriating to be completely honest. (Y/N) walked to the edge of the ship and scanned the large ocean, watching as a few dolphins flew in and out of the waves that the ship was making as it forced the water apart. The wind blew her hair out of her face as she turned her head towards the sunset, just moments away from kissing the blue sea before night. She could see a single shining star winking at her.
(Y/N) was not one for acting like a child, but from the looks of the other men on board, her only option is to... well, wish upon it. She closed her eyes tight, her nose wrinkling slightly as she whispered a wish up to the bright dot in the sky. She smiled slightly, pushing stray hairs behind her ears. Suddenly, she could hear it. A soft voice, barley above a whisper, was singing.
She couldn't make out what it was saying or what song it could be but she quickly ran to the right side of the ship, her heart pounding in excitement. "Jack!" She called with a smile, jumping slightly from the excitement. "come here and listen!" Jack looked towards the girl, a slight smirk on his face from seeing her smile and watching her jump up and down. "Be careful, Ms. Vane. You'll cause the ship to turn over on us if you continue jumping like that." He joked as he strolled over to where she was standing.
(Y/N) smiled, she was a little embarrassed from her actions. "I think I've solved part of the riddle!" She stated as she placed her hands on her hips in victory. "And what, prey tell, have you solved?" Jack questioned, a raised eyebrow in curiosity growing on his face. "Do you not hear that?" The girl questioned as she heard the soft voice calling to her. "I don't." Jack said as he strained to hear what she said she was hearing, all he heard was the waves crashing and the boards creaking on the ship.
"You must be gearing things." "I most certainly am not hearing things, Jack!" (Y/N) was a bit upset that the older male somehow couldn't hear what she could but she knew it was there. "It's coming from this way, I know it. I can feel it!" She stated as she looked at the man, (E/C) eyes shining as they looked into his brown ones. "You're sure?" He questioned, somehow believing her tale.
"Yes! Don't you remember part of the riddle?" She questioned before answering. "A song can be heard, so pretty, so sweet." Of course, Jack thought as his eyes grew big with excitement. But how in the world was she the only one able to hear the song?
"Gibbs!" Jack yelled as he turned towards the older man across the ship. "Aye?" Was his return. "Turn the ship northward!" Another "aye" was the reply. "Good job, Ms.Vane." Jack said with a genuine smile as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, bringing her closer to his body. She blushed slightly before looking up at the taller male. "Thanks... Jack."
