"Please don't make me go." Valorie Stinson begged her mom. "Sorry honey. You have to do something this summer." Valorie's mom, Stephanie said. Tomorrow will be Valorie's first day of summer camp. Obviously she doesn't want to go. Why should she? Going to camp would absolutely obliterate Valorie's social life.

"All the nerds are going to camp during the summer. All my other friends are either living up at the mall or sunbathing at the beach." Valorie said, collapsing on her canopy bed. She thouht it was especially unfair when she found out that the rest of her cheerleading squad was going to help little kids cheer.

"That's too bad honey. You're going to that camp." Stephanie said. "But mom --" "I don't want to hear it." Stephanie interrupted. Stephanie walked into another room. Valorie screamed in her pillow. How could this be happenng? Valoie's social life was going to be dmolished. Valorie was probably going to get demoted to co-captain after the summer.

Valorie's cell phone was ringing for the first time day. She discovered that her best friend Kyla was calling.

KYLA: Hey girl!

VALORIE: Hey Kyla.

KYLA: Are you going to be able to make it tomorrow?

VALORIE: Sorry Kyla. I have to spend the smer at camp remember.

KYLA: Aw. That sucks.

VALORIE: I know but maybe next summer.

Stephanie stepped into Valorie's room for a brief moment and noticed Valorie on the phone. "Val, are you all packed?" Stephanie asked. "Mom. Can't you see that I'm on the phone?" Valorie said, putting her phone toher chest. Stephanie raised an eyebrow at Valorie. Val start packing, Stephanie thought, before I slap you. "I'll start packing," Valorie said, half smiling at Stephanie.

VALORIE: Kyla?

KYLA: Yes.

VALORIE: I gotta go.

KYLA: Call me. OK.

Valorie hung up the phone. That was weird, Valorie thought.

As Valorie began to pack, her annoying little brother Aiden walked in her room. "Hey I heard that you're going to go to a lame camp for the whole summer!" Aiden teased. "Oh stuff a sock in it. And for your information, the camp will be alongside of the Goldenway Bay. Right across from Roaring Waters Resort." Valorie said, with a smug look. "I don't care. You're stuck at a camp and I get to go to the beach whenever I want." Aiden said. Valorie rolled he eyes and continued to pack.

She was thinking about what Aidn had said. She was going to be stuck at that horrible monstrocity of a camp. Nobody she knew was going to be there. Just those kids that lived in the area. She was freaking out because today was the last day of freedom before she serves her summer long sentence at camp.

After packing her bags, she decided to relax outside on her patio. Valoie felt like the patio was her hiding place. Neither Stephanie nor Aiden went out into the patio unless it was barbeque time. Usualy Valorie would take a magazine with a glass of iced tea but now she just wants to watch the sunset.

Watching the sunset, she forgets about being popular or lame, fat or ugly, good or bad. Even though she's in her favorite place in the world, she can't forget about that God forsaken place. Stephanie joined Valorie on the patio.

"Go to bed honey. You have to get your rest for tomorrow." Steohanie said. "Mom I'm sixeen. Not nine. Why can't I go to bed when I want?" Valorie debated. "Valorie this isn't a debate. Now don't make me say it again. Go to bed now." Stephanie said, pointing inside the house. Valorie immediatley got up and stomped to her room and slammed the door. It didn't take long for her to fall into a deep sleep.

"Wake up honey." Stephanie said, tapping Valorie on her shoulder. "It's time to wake up." Valorie popped out of her bed. She stretched and started to get ready for camp. "Put a little pep in your step. It's gonna be a two hour drive." Stephanie said. This is it, Valorie thought, This is the day my popularity crumbles.

"C'mon Val!" Stephanie yelled from the car. Valorie combed her long blonde hair in her bedroom mirror for the last time. "Coming mom!" Valorie yelled back. She got in the car and drove off.

"So what are you going to do at camp?" Stephanie asked. "I can't really answer that." Valorie replied, staring out the window. Don't ingage in any conversation Val, Valorie thought. "Val look. I know you're mad at me right now but I used to go to camp when I was young and I think that this will be a great experince for you." Stephanie said, putting her hand on Valorie's knee. Valorie didn't say anything. She just kept staring out the window.

After two long and boring hours, they finally arrived at the camp. "Look honey! It's your camp!" Stephanie said excitedly. The camp was beautiful. A lot better than the beach and the mall. But even though the camp looked perfect, Valorie would much rather teach young girls how to cheer.

They got out of the car and went straight to the front office. There was a woman in a plaid shirt and cargo bermuda shorts. She looked like she was in her mid twenty's. You coultell because of her young green eyes, short black hair, and there wasn't a wrinkle on her face.

"Hi. Welcome to Camp Greenforest. I'm Mila. How may I assist you today?" Mila said, sticking her hand out. "Hello Mila. I'm here to drop off my daughter, Valorie Stinson." Stephanie said, shaking Mila's hand. "Follow me." Mila said.

Mila took them ouside and showed them Valorie's cabin. "Whoa! I get this all to myself?" Valorie asked. "Of course no silly! The other girls will be here soon." Mila said, laughing. The cabin was huge. It had 5 bedrooms, a garden, a swimming pool, and a patio. Valorie thought this was going to be the lamest thing she ever saw, but maybeshe was wrong.

"Well Val. I guess this is it." Stephanie said. Stephanie an Valorie said their goodbyesthen Stephanie was on her way. Valorie sat on one of the beds and started to unpack. But then she heard someone come in. Oh great, Valorie thought, a new person.
