Chapter 1: Toba is Out to Seek the Sequoia

Chapter Text

"Bye, I'm outta here!"

Toba slammed the door of the cabin shut and raced outside. He was supposed to be at a meeting with his squad, but who was there to stop him? He wanted to see Sequoia again after two weeks had passed with her saying she had to attend the gardens. He was impatient, speeding through the forest as he hopped the soaked rocks of a running river. Toba had jumped the same rocks and traveled the same route plenty of times to the point he didn't even need to look where he was going.

Once he arrived at one of the tents set up that he was sure Sequoia was in, he stuck his head into the flaps.

"Sequoia?" He asked.

"Toba? Why are you here? I'm sure my sister has informed you that she was busy."

Toba turns his head towards the voice of the speaker, recognizing Yosemite.

"Yosemite? Sorry, I was looking for Sequoia—if you've seen her—"

"She's in the meadow. Tending flowers. If you're looking for anything else, you may ask some of the guards nearby, otherwise, you can stop sticking your head in my tent." The girl, appearing to be 13 years old cut in, her straight black hair flowed down her back as she rubbed lotion on her right arm. She takes a glance up and her electric sky-blue eyes meet Toba's. There was a look of annoyance, and he assumed she was in a bad mood.

"Yeah, alright-o. Than—"

A hard shove of fabric causes the pink-haired male to stumble back, his bottom landing on the damp verdant grasses.

'Damn Yosemite, what's wrong today?' Toba placed a hand on his behind, giving it a gentle rub to soothe the pain as he stands up. After a little bit of searching, Toba steps out into a field of medium-length grass, approaching a small heap of what he can safely assume to be Sequoia Lark. "Why, Toba! It's good to see ya' again!"
