Thursday, April 13. That was today's date. Today was tournament day. I woke up with many thoughts in my head. But the thought that kept circling around my mind was "Will I be able to see him today?" I got out of my bed to do my morning workout routine before I had to Ronan's to go to the tournament. I been working out in the mornings to help better my performance in badminton. So far, it's been helping out and I have a lot of stamina. After I finished my last pushup, I grabbed my bag and headed to Ronan's. "Where you headed lil miss perfect?" I knew that annoying tone anywhere. Abrar. Can't this man leave me alone? He's been an annoying piece of shit since that day when I went to the hospital.
"Don't you know I got a tournament today? I literally wrote that in your calendar. My Ma wanted to know where I was at all times so she made me make a virtual calendar with Abrar so we would know where the other person was. Abrar barely lets me go out, and if I did go out, he would always tag along. Just I thought I was getting my freedom, he has to come in and play parent. Like what is his deal? Why does he want me around him so much? "Now you know where I'll be all day, I will get going." "You're already forgetting something." I stopped at the door. What did I forget? I checked my bag, I had everything I need. Then I noticed something, I'm not wearing my team's hoodie! Coach told us to wear our team's hoodie to the tournament today and I nearly forgot. I rushed back to my room to get my hoodie so I can get out quickly.
I looked everywhere in my room for my hoodie and I couldn't find it. "Looking for this?" Abrar was outside my room holding my red hoodie. I ran to him to get it. I slipped and nearly fell to the ground. Before I could hit the ground, Abrar grabbed me by my waist. I don't know if it was the moment or he had too much to drink last night, but he tried to kiss me. He missed my lips cause I lowered my head and he kissed my forehead. "Well, thanks for catching me. Now, can you let go of me?" I freed myself from his grasp and went straight to Ronan's. "Maybe he was drunk and thought I was his girlfriend or should I say girlfriends?" Ever since the day I went to the hospital, he has been bringing in girls every other night to have sex with them.
I got to Ronan's place and started knocking on the door eagerly. When the door opened, I saw Aidan rubbing his eyes like he woke up from a good dream. "What is it Rupi? You just woke me up from a good dream?" I knew it. "Sorry, I was wanted to see if Ronan was ready so we can head to the tournament?" "I'm here Rupi! Sorry you had to wake up Aidan. His family's been fighting recently so he's staying here." "Awh, I hope it gets better." I felt bad for Aidan, day and night his parents fought over everything and it usually involved someone getting hurt in the end. The last time they fought, Aidan received a scar on his right cheek. I'm glad Ronan can be his safe haven. "Ronan, remember to wear your anklet I gave you!" Aidan had given a lucky anklet to Ronan for their 1 year anniversary.
After Ronan grabbed all his stuff for the tournament, we went to the bus stop to go A.Y. Jackson. "So, today is finally the day, huh?" "WELL, IT'S DEFINITLY NOT CHRISTMAS." "Woah, Rupi! Why are you yelling?" "Oh, sorry. I'm just to excited for the tournament." I lied. I was angry but I didn't know what I was angry at and that got me mad even more. "Yea well it's easy for you to be excited. You're literally the best badminton player in all of Riverdale, you literally got this!" "Yea well, we'll see. Anything can happen today and I mean anything." "You mean even getting that guy's number?" I froze. That one person that has been the cause of my euphoria. Sorry, I have been listening to BTS a lot these days. "Rupi, you know I'm thinking, that he might just end up being a total creep." "Ok, let me dream! I know guys are normally shit, I'm just hoping he's somewhat ok." "Damn, he really blinded you with his looks." "It's not just that, he has a "A" on his gold chain. My grandmother said that the "A" represents who my soulmate is"
I proceed to tell Ronan about the dream my Nanu saw. The gold chain, blue hoodie, the cliff, just everything. "Ok but is your grandmother a witch that she can see the future?" "Well I know she isn't but my grandmother's words felt like I was being told !y actual future." "Is that your only reason for liking gold chain guy?" "Of course not, he seems like he's a good person honestly. I need an honest person like that."
~flashback to the night at the hospital~
I vividly remembering seeing him in a nurse scrub and signing some papers. I also saw his face that day, it's a very cute but handsome face. He had these sharp almond eyes with a button nose and also had heart shaped lips with stretched in the corners a little bit. "I'll be with patient 56, tell the doctor to immediately attend to patient 70 wounds, he is severely injured." Those were the words I heard him say that day and ever since that day, it's been stuck in my head. No matter how much I try, I won't be able to get rid of the voice.
~back to reality~
"Rupi? You zoned off again while talking about him." "Oh I'm sorry, I really need to get control of this" "Let's just hope you'll be able to focus on today's matches" "Don't worry, this won't happen then." Ronan gives a concerned look but shrugs it off. We make it this the tournament and head off to the change rooms to get ready. I got there and placed my stuff on the bench until a girl came and tapped me on the shoulder.
