Chapter 33: Goodbye, Korea

Tae Hyung's POV

Tok-tok-tok..

"Tae Hyung? Baby.. Wake up.. Breakfast is ready."

I heard mom knocked the door. I usually answer her with 'five more minutes mom' or will never answer her back. But today, I woke up at 3 in the morning. I can't sleep. I can't think well. I have so many thoughts stuck up in my mind. I am so nervous. Kae Il will leave the country today. What am I suppose to do now? Is this the end of us? She hasn't seen me yet. We haven't talked yet, have we?

~flashback~

Yesterday, I asked our driver to bring me to Hwon Dong Hospital to visit Kae Il. I immediately opened her door as I stepped in front of it. I saw her. She's alone inside the room. I went near the bed. And as an idiot as I am, I talked to her again knowing that she couldn't hear me because she's still asleep. I told her I was sorry. I told her the things I have kept on thinking way back in America. The things I failed to say the first time I saw her in this hospital because mom called me that time. And if I know, Jungkook was there. Uggh. That punk.

I was about to leave that time when I heard Kae Il's voice. I am to turn back to her and tell her to repeat what she said but two male nurses entered and ordered me to not bother the patient for awhile so that she could be discharged much early.

~end of flashback~

Kae Il's POV

I woke up with my head aching. I tried to open my eyes, but I can't see anything. Am I still in the hospital? I tried to move my arms, my legs, but I was left disappointed. I can't move. My whole body is stinging.

I heard footsteps approaching my location. People. They're coming to me, I can feel it. But why can't I see them? I felt anxious. I think I'm in trouble again. Where's aunty? Did I sleep too long?

The footsteps sounded louder and louder. I heard a man's voice and another man answered him. I blinked twice and my eyes felt a cloth in front of it. I realized I was in a blindfold. I tried to move my hands again only to have the knowledge that I am tied. My feet were tied also. What's all of these?

The man came near to me. He tapped my arm. I didn't answer. I didn't move. I know I'll be in danger if I responded or fight them. What do I have against them, anyway? I'm still a kid. So I remained still.

Later, I felt the man grabbed my waist and lifted me in the air. He hanged me on his shoulders with my stomach on it. I don't know where we're going but I'm sure of one thing, my stepfather must have planned these all.

Basing on my senses, we entered inside a vehicle. The man, who was lifting me awhile ago, placed me on the backseat of the car and left to passenger seat. While the other man acted as the driver.

"I can smell money." The man said.

"Me either." Said the other one and they both laughed evilly.

I have this feeling that they're only two who kidnapped me. So I guess it's my turn now to make a move to get out of their trap since no one was guarding me here at the back seat. While they are busy chitchatting, I rubbed and made circles in my hand to loosen it from the tie. Fortunately, since my hands were small, my struggle was not too long. I immediately, slowly, untangled my blindfold. I saw two man with familiar faces whose talking seriously now.

"The fuck?" Cursed the driver as he hit the horn. What are they talking about? I just untangled the rope in my hands awhile ago then I lost from their conversation. They sounded like they're fighting.

"I know, I know, we're near to the prize but.. The poor kid didn't do anything wrong." Are they talking about me?

"What if boss heard this?" Boss?

"We won't let him know, of course." Said the other man. Are they perhaps...?

"So we'll just let the girl free?" He paused as he turn the car to the right. By the time I heard it, I felt relieve, somehow. Are they gonna leave me alone now? I made a weak smile. "And that's it? Shit! I have a family to feed, just so you know."

"We're doing evil, Lu. We killed innocent kids last time, and now we're gonna kill a kid again." So that's why they are familiar to me. I have seen them on our fieldtrip last time.

"We killed before, we could kill again. And you know what? I don't even care!" Shouted the man named Lu. I'm getting nervous again. The hope that aroused in me earlier vanished and replaced by the thought I am going to die any moment later.

"Lu, let's stop this. My conscience is eating me up!"

"Fuck. After what we have done? You still have your conscience?"

"Please, Lu." I saw the other man gripped the driver's hand and the car stopped badly.

"Holy shit!! So what's the plan?"

"We'll give her back to her aunt." He paused and held his chin. "I heard they're going to Germany.. So, at the same time, we're going to tell boss we killed the girl." Despite the fact that I am with kidnappers today, I still can feel that someone's protecting me eventhough Jin is not here.

Jin's been a good friend to me. He always comes whenever I'm in deep trouble or in sorrow. I wiped my tears as his image flashed in my head. I suddenly remembered my friends and the memories we had. And while I'm thinking of them, great courage stood up inside me that I can escape this nightmare I've been experiencing now.

I clenched my fists and planned the things I should do before the kidnappers take me to somewhere I should regret. But then..

"Fuck! Do you think he'd believe us?" Before the other man replied, I saw the driver got out of the car and slammed the front door. Seconds after, the door beside me opened and this time, I panicked and opened the opposite door. I ran as fast as I could although I don't know where I am heading to.

"Lu!!" I heard the other man called. I know he's stopping the man who's running after me. I didn't faced them and continued running. I'm desperate to save myself. I can hear my heart beating so bad like it would run pass me. My tears are falling as I take every step. It really is very painful as I keep on running against the hot surface. I was barefooted and I can feel the stones eating my sole.

The place looked secluded and you can barely see houses in here. I guess we're not in the city anymore. There are large trees and and thorny plants and as I keep on going forward, the land is getting muddy. Eventhough my body is telling me to stop now, the other side of me urges me to continue. I can't let this be the end of me. I haven't seen my mom yet and I haven't told Tae Hyung that he's already forgiven.

I ran and ran and didn't notice the falling branch from the tree on my left. It hit my shoulder and left scratches on it. Because the branch is too heavy, it also caused me to fall on the ground. As I got up, I found out that my knees were both bleeding and my head felt like vibrating again. I can't do this anymore. I can't do this anymo-no! I can do this. I can do this.

I searched for a place that could hide my whole body and finally found a huge tree five meters away from me. God knows much I tried to walk faster, but my body tells me to just move slowly so I have nothing to do with it. My eyes are welling up again. What did I do to have this miserable life?

"So.." I looked back to know who was the owner of the voice.

"Lu." I whispered weakly. I saw him holding a knife and he's walking towards me. My world literally stopped at the moment. So is this how I say Goodbye to Korea?
