hello children. it is me, the fab but the ugly, the crackhead and the idiot.
today i am going to discuss what pisses me off when it comes to fanfiction. this is mostly based off of bts fics bcz they're one of my ults.
a quick disclaimer, i am sorry if i give false information or if i be hypocritical. i am a writer too (a shit one) and i've been on this diddly darn app for like nearly 3 years so i think im knowledgeable.
ANYWAYS
1. typos/grammatical errors
now i know for some people english is not their own language, and i know at times typos are intended, but please please at least read through and edit your work at least once!! especially if you're seriously and professionally trying to write something.
2. numerous editing
some authors just can't seem to be content with their content (im not content with my content either) but i don't constantly try to edit it again and again to make it better. and authors, i get you; you want the utmost best not only for yourself but for your readers too. sometimes the first version of the book is the best version.
3. pronouns + misinformation
now this is very specific because i've been seeing it in many fanfics: DO NOT GIVE BTS OR ANY MALE FEMALE PRONOUNS UNLESS THEY WANT TO BE DESCRIBED WITH FEMALE PRONOUNS. i also don't think the boys want to be described as 'princesses' or 'queens'. in some cases it's used for comedy. that's fine, but im certain some bts members clearly announced they don't like female pronouns (and thats on jin)
4. exclusion
ik this is rare, but some writers exclude certain members (COUGH COUGH JHOPE) and don't even include the member(s) or mention them. now you don't have to have every member in a fic, but don't be rude abt it.
5. comment sections
most comment sections are funny, wholesome and cute. but some can get dirty, and we've all been there. i absolutely hate it when i give constructive criticism (and not hate) and another person replies and says, 'WE DON'T WANT NEGATIVITY'. erm excuse me susan, as long as im following the guidlines, it's all good. plus, most authors even appreciate the advice/ideas.
