quinn's paper-verse

Part 1

in this story, there are a lot of universes. but something was a little.. off. so because of that, people from different universes switched places. fortunately, the damage to the universes wasn't that big, so only one person switched universes. but who knows, it might get worse over time..

the person that switched universes is called quinn. her human self switched with her paper self. right now we will focus on her human self and her life in the paper world, so i'll tell you a little bit about the paper universe, before you start asking questions.

the paper universe is just like our universe, except the humans are made of paper. only the humans. so humans are the only source of 'earth-paper'. what about books, you ask? well, there is a special kind of tree here that can be used for many things. the wood is very hard and can be used for.. um.. hard man-made stuff. the leaves are very puffy and can be picked and processed into paper. it's not the same kind of leaves that our paper is made of, but it is paper nonetheless. this special tree also has a fruit that is considered a delicacy across the multiverse. earth doesn't have this fruit, though.

the paper people (we'll call them cutouts) aren't quite like our paper. if you look at our paper from the side, it will appear thin. but cutouts retain their paper-y shape. they are just like 3D people models, but made of paper.

as you know, paper gets wet. so of course cutouts get wet, too. they absolutely hate the rain. a few drops won't hurt, since it'll dry later, but if they stay in water too long and don't get to a dry place quickly then they'll slowly disappear. cutouts die instantly when burned, though. cutouts can also be cut, but their cut body parts can be reattached with a special tape and the cut will heal.

onto the story. so quinn is human, right? and no one likes her because ew flesh and blood. (cutouts have no blood, or anything inside of them for that matter.) quinn managed to make like 2 friends at her school because they thought she was cool. her first friend theo was a very good boi and they became friends when he stood up to her bullies. the other friend was created by my friend. she doesn't do anything to the story, but it might be important to say that she was a very supportive friend. quinn's bullies bully her because she is a human and is different from them. so quinn gets angry and, whenever it's raining, she would go outside the school and then come back inside to spray water on them. but this just provokes the bullies and makes them hate her even more. sometimes, after school, quinn would wish that rain came down and drowned her bullies. hey, what do you know, suddenly rain comes pouring down, and there wasn't even a cloud in the sky!

strange, huh.

quinn lives in this peaceful little house that's far away from the noises of the big city. she goes exploring in a nearby forest sometimes. it is not a very large forest, so it should be fine for a child to go exploring there without her parents. one time, quinn found a cool rock in the middle of the forest. it had a cool swirl pattern on it and a crack near the top. it gives off a faint light at night. quinn likes to call it the 'swirl stone'.

why did i mention that rock in particular? because it's IMPORTANT. why? how so? well, it is actually not a swirl stone, but a portal rock. you can use this rock to traverse between universes, but only one universe's people know how to do this. this universe is the mage universe. the people here know all sorts of magic and spells. but there are also mages that can't cast spells. they still know about potion stuff and general mage knowledge though, so they still classify as mages. but let's talk about that universe later. so you know how the portal rock can be used to traverse between universes? yeah so one time quinn was sitting on a log in her field and all of a sudden there's this weird ominous light coming from the direction of the portal rock. when quinn turned around, there was this guy wearing some sort of hat that looks like something a fictional character from a fantasy book would wear. (it's a mage hat.) the guy is like "wOAH QUINN!! you're in the wrong universe!!" and he grabs quinn and takes her to the portal rock. quinn is very scared. but hey BOOM BAM FLASH before she knew it, she was in the mage universe. but she didn't know that. the strange guy pointed out a few things about quinn, like how it was strange that her hair was long and bluish-purple and that she wore some sort of trench coat. quinn said that she always looked like this, and the guy realised that she wasn't quinn from the mage universe. and everything got very awkward because they met the actual quinn from the mage universe. mage quinn was much calmer than human quinn. even though they were both quinn, they were very different from each other. the guy (let's call him.. hm.. marvine.) apologises to human quinn and takes her back to the paper universe. but there's still a problem..
